thom yorke | tomorrow’s modern boxes lp

Thom Yorke is known to surprise as much as he is known for pushing the boundaries of what a song can be. On Friday, September 26th he did the unexpected, he dropped the Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes album! This is monster! And for Radiohead fans, diehard and casual alike, the joy is evident and immediate. And it isn’t just the 8-track release that is pure joie de vivre. It is the method of madness that is groundbreaking! Mr. Yorke has chosen to disseminate the album to the masses through “the front door” in a way that is pretty innovative and totes badass too. Read on. Continue reading “thom yorke | tomorrow’s modern boxes lp”

things we like: people’s climate march

If by chance you haven’t heard about the much ado about something that is the People’s Climate March going on today in NYC then allow me to pull your virtual shirttails.

What is the People’s Climate March? It is 100+ world leaders gathered in NYC. 2808 solidarity events in 166 countries. The largest climate march in history. Yes, that pretty much sums it up. But, it is also so much more. The success of today will only matter if we as individuals chose to have an impact and follow through with enduring and far reaching meaningful action. On a local and very personal level what can you do to guarantee change?

We know our environment: the ground beneath our collective feet and the air we breath are under assault. Our oceans and every other waterway are not up to snuff and are taking a beating. Melting ice caps, rising sea levels and wonky weather, all of these effects are propelled by and large negative human impact on the environment. We are at a very literal tipping point, whereas our actions and non-actions can either propel us into a better future or a very real and quality of life altering catastrophe. Tune in for life and let’s make a difference. Peace.

private island | a good look ep

Los Angeles is known for just about every form of musical entertainment, so it’s no surprise to see Private Island rise to the top of the best bands The City of Angels has to offer. The band’s A Good Look EP is a handy collection of four songs, and they’re a good indication that this band will have a future taking up residence in my earhole. After the jump, check out the audios for the tracks Bear Hands, Don’t Call Me, and Dissolve. Here’s to a full-length from this outfit. Peace. Continue reading “private island | a good look ep”

whales in cubicles | death in the evening lp

I must admit I am less than fashionably late to many a musical parties and I make no excuse for this. However, better to arrive eventually than never at all, no? London-based Whales In Cubicles is new to me and my ears. My ears resent my tardiness in matters of staying abreast of the latest music finds. But by and by they relent and forgive my shortcomings. Thank you ears. Continue reading “whales in cubicles | death in the evening lp”

far out magazine | childhood | rosa brook

“The wonderment of spontaneity and serendipitous findings are rife with both good and bad stuff, but the good stuff prevails.”

So, I’m tweeting, as I am want to do. All pliant and dextrous fingers doing what the brain bids then. Eyes taking it all in, searching fervently for a cool bit of cool to share. I am determined and in the end a very lucky “sum bitch”. Continue reading “far out magazine | childhood | rosa brook”

mr twin sister | in the house of yes

Mr Twin Sister has uncorked the full bright moon and poured heaven down upon us. With the latest track, In The House of Yes, listeners get treated to a jazzy spectacle of musical layer cake and the pièce de résistance (or cherry on top), is Andrea Estella‘s sedative-dusted vocals. Honestly, I think she could literally sing the stars down from on high. No lie.

Look for their self-titled sophomore Mr Twin Sister album soon. In the U.S. it hits the streets running September 23rd. Peace.
