elizabeth rose // the good life (emoh instead remix)

The Elizabeth Rose track The Good Life gets a transcendental remix by fellow Aussie denizen and top notch producer/dj Chris ‘Emoh’ Emerson. The ensuing results are immediate as the track resonates sunshiny candied coated beams of euphoria into your eardrums. So, if you find yourself “down under” you can find Emoh Instead working the tables at various locales wherever. But, if your funds are prohibitively low there’s a cheaper way to get the Emoh Instead experience. Check out his debut Say So EP which received appreciative nods from the likes of A-Trak and Diplo. Like I have mentioned numerously, the Australian scene is burning up! With producers like Chet Faker, Ta-ku, Flume, LDRU and Yahtzel the future is indeed bright and tirelessly rhythmic.

Also, be on the look out for the Elizabeth Rose EP, it drops January 17th, 2014. Continue reading “elizabeth rose // the good life (emoh instead remix)”

wordlife // breakthrough + small talk ep

wordlife  //  breakthrough + small talk ep

It’s Monday and since I don’t regularly imbibe in coffee-nated (made up words are my thang) beverages music often is the “thing” to get me going in too early hours of a new day. Check out the Aussie dj/producer combo wordlife and their blood revving Small Talk / Breakthrough EP. After the jump listen to the Doc Daneeka LGO Remix of Small Talk and shake sumpin’. Peace.

riton // suckers (ft. rita ora & le dust sucker)

riton  //  suckers (ft. rita ora & le dust sucker)

My plan for today’s music is simple. I am going to ratchet it up then bring it back down.

Starting with the latest release from dj/producer Henry ‘Riton’ Smithson, check out his bouncy electro machine-gun style Suckers featuring Rita Ora and Le Dust Sucker. As a kid Riton got his first taste of the electronic music seen when he heard Wen Bomb The Bass and MARRS “Pump Up The Volume, and now he’s influencing a generation of would be mix-masters with his own special blend of electronic music wizardry. For the best of Riton check out his releases on  Carte Blanche records and his Lost My Mind EP. Peace. Continue reading “riton // suckers (ft. rita ora & le dust sucker)”

pretty lights // a color map of the sun + documentary + video

If you or anyone you know is a Pretty Lights fan this is the ultimate brass ring of PL fan-dome. For well over two years Pretty Lights (Derek Vincent Smith) spent collecting behind the scene footage from studio sessions across the country with a litany of well known and barely (all talented beyond belief) musicians and vocalists, the project partnered with VICE – and their electronic (EDM) and forward thinking music channel, THUMP – to tell the story of A Color Map of the Sun. Watch the documentary in its entirety here after the jump.

But as exciting as the documentary is what’s even better is the forthcoming album entitled Live Studio Sessions: from A Color Map of the Sun which contains 13 of the raw unmolested analog tape recordings that were pressed to vinyl in order to sample for the album. , it drops July 2nd. The Live Studio Sessions recordings are on the 2nd disc of the A Color Map of the Sun CD set. Live Studio Sessions will also be included as part of the free download of A Color Map of the Sun via www.prettylightsmusic.com and on the deluxe version of the album in digital music stores. Lay your eyes on the official video for Around The Block featuring none other than the supreme lyricist Talib Kweli. Peace. mount kimbie // made to stray + video

I don’t know but Mount Kimbie (Dominic Maker and Kai Campos) could very well reach god-like (ok, maybe just legendary) status with the release of their latest Cold Spring Fault Less Youth LP courtesy of Warp Records. I caught up with the video for the track Made To Stray, but it’s up to you to catch the rest of the album. But, that’s an easy fix, head on over to iTunes. Oh just so you know the You Took Your Time ft. King Krule is killin’ it! Peace. Continue reading “mount kimbie // made to stray + video”

tokimonsta // half shadows ♥ ♫

Here we are, securely ensconced smack dab betwixt the what was and the what will be of 2013. And with nearly half of the year behind us there is yet still much partying to do. I can’t think of a better mixologist to helm your good time than the uniquely talented TOKiMONSTA  (Jennifer Lee). Ms. MONSTA recently released a 2nd LP titled Half Shadows ([icon name=”icon-arrow-left”] check it out) via the bonafide heavy hitta’ label Ultra.

After the jump I assembled an introduction listening party: which includes the Go With It ft. MDNR as well as the benignly sexy Moon Rise ft. Jesse Boykins III. Both tracks are taken from her most excellent Half Shadows album. And, just so your eyes won’t get jealous of your ears I’ve thrown in some visuals too. The video for The Force ft. Kool Keith is pure psychedelic Hip Hop majesty. Peace.

ruby fröst // water to ice (golden age remix)

Music is an unstoppable force of which we cannot resist… nor want to.

I have a muse and her name is Teddi Stavee. She keeps whispering the most incredible things in my ear. Case in point, she recommended New Zealand vocalist Ruby Fröst‘s Water To Ice (Golden Age Remix) to me. And of course she’s right (Muses are always right) when conveying an inability to stop listening to it. I feel the same way. You can catch Ms. Fröst in all of her unbridled vocal glory on her debut release Volition via iTunes. Peace. Continue reading “ruby fröst // water to ice (golden age remix)”
