Basecamp the Nashville, TN trio that’s been on a tear for a few years now (Watch My Back, Smoke Filled Lungs, Shudder). The band’s latest release the Greater Than EP is six tracks of exactly why we love these guys. The fourth track on the EP Esc gets the remix treatment with Esc (Swindail Remix) and the Esc (josh pan & X&G Remix). I can’t decide which version I like the bestest. Maybe you can help me decide? Peace.

basecamp | watch my back

Basecamp consits of Aaron Miller, Aaron C. Harmon and Jordan Reyes and together they one of my favorite music production teams. Hailing from Nashville (I know right) this team of talented musicians, songwriters and producers do music so right it glistens like a lingering kiss. With the first single Watch My Back from their forthcoming Greater Than EP it looks (read sounds) like they’re laying another winner upon our greedy ears. The Greater Thank EP drops August 21st via OWSLA. You can listen and Pre-Order after the jump. Peace. Continue reading “basecamp | watch my back”

riton // suckers (ft. rita ora & le dust sucker)

riton  //  suckers (ft. rita ora & le dust sucker)

My plan for today’s music is simple. I am going to ratchet it up then bring it back down.

Starting with the latest release from dj/producer Henry ‘Riton’ Smithson, check out his bouncy electro machine-gun style Suckers featuring Rita Ora and Le Dust Sucker. As a kid Riton got his first taste of the electronic music seen when he heard Wen Bomb The Bass and MARRS “Pump Up The Volume, and now he’s influencing a generation of would be mix-masters with his own special blend of electronic music wizardry. For the best of Riton check out his releases on  Carte Blanche records and his Lost My Mind EP. Peace. Continue reading “riton // suckers (ft. rita ora & le dust sucker)”

blkkathy // dem bones + fake b###h + shake you off + video

According to their label Deep Ellum Records “BLKKATHY is a Brooklyn-based duo, sometimes trio, of ladies who like to sing sad songs over very heavy bass beats...” And after listening to their songs the description is mostly true, aside from the fact that I just feel a strong compulsion to tongue kiss my speakers right now whilst Dem Bones waft seductively around my head space. Although the songs dropped last year, the girls are still gathering momentum, which will hopefully compel them towards a debut release. No word on an official release as of yet, but let’s raise a glass and toast to hope eternal.

You can still get a FREE DOWNLOAD of Dem Bones and Fake Bitch via Bandcamp. However, the crown jewel is the bass heavy staccato groove Shake You Off. As a matter of fact I’m dancin’ in my chair as I pen this. Come join me on the dance floor. Peace. Continue reading “blkkathy // dem bones + fake b###h + shake you off + video”

maya jane coles // everything (ft. karin park)

Maya Jane Coles is responsible for one the most highly anticipated LP of the summer, the forthcoming debut album Comfort (via Maya’s own I/AM/ME label and Kobalt) which drops in July. After the jump check out the official tracklist. Also, there is a litany of guest appearances, from the likes of Catherine Pockson (of Alpines fame), Miss Kittin, Kim Ann Foxman, and Karin Park who is featured on the first single Everything. Peace. scratch massive // waiting (ft. koudlam

Les Français ont l’!

Maud Geffray and Sébastien Chenut are kind of a Parisian dynamic duo when it comes to creating deep musically creative music. In my mind what they do is assemble these incredible soundtracks which combine the best elements of fear and beauty. On their track “Waiting” featuring Koudlam, the song builds and stalks as the listener huddles down beneath it’s tantalizing menace. But in the end it swallows you up majestically and you couldn’t be happier. Look for the new album ‘Communion‘ to be released January 28th. Just a couple of things, the above photo is courtesy of Brain Magazine and my favorite SM album is Enemy & Lovers. Peace. Continue reading “scratch massive // waiting (ft. koudlam”

hyphen hyphen // baby baby sweet sweet

A good song is likened to a good friend who keeps buying you drinks.

Not a new song by any means, but I was going through my iPod and came across the song “Baby Baby Sweet Sweet,” by Hyphen Hyphen. The track is from their ‘Chewbacca I’m Your Mother‘ EP (2011). The song still sounds fresh as a new lover to me. You can also get it on iTunes, Amazon and eMusic. Peace. Continue reading “hyphen hyphen // baby baby sweet sweet”
