Embeds allowing bloggers to easily embed videos from Distrify. Just go to any Distrify film page or player and copy the URL. Aussie song craftsman Dustin Tebbutt is new to me and although that isn’t necessarily a ringing endorsement it’s okay. Because once you listen to the music nothing else will matter anyway. His latest and forthcoming work will come to us in the form of the mini-album Home release. To date we have his study in all things tranquil and adulatory. Apt examples of such would be his Illuminate single and two splendid previous works: The Breach and Bones EPs.
 

 
Nevermind the Justin Vernon comparisons, for they will surely have their say. But where Mr. Vernon (Bon Iver) is mystical Dustin Tebbutt is straight forward, more linear and less variegated.

Dustin’s approach floats lyric melodies like spun out and silken emotion. His music packs too a well balanced temperance of beauty with a rippling tension just beneath. Altogether not dissimilar to the powerful formation of a burgeoning star viewed from a safe distance. After the jump I have also included both the audio and lyrics for the track Home.

Are you privy to the newly coined axiom (I made it up) which posits, “What happens Down Under will irrevocably come to light”? Well, Melbourne duo GL is so out of the shadows one may mistake them for the bright sun rising in the eastern sky. GL offers us lightning in a bottle once again with their latest track What Happened To Us.
 
The new release solidifies my faith in GL’s (Graeme Pogson & Ella Thompson) ability to make sustainable music, which will continue to bring a smile to my ears whenever I deign to press play.

GL has a style somewhere well couched in 70’s Disco and refined by 80’s R&B, and tangy sweet vocals of Ella Thompson absolutely kill.

And if you missed their first single Won’t You See you can peep the official Ellie Graham-directed video below.
 

 
The duos eponymous debut EP from ‘GL’ is out now courtesy of Plastic World. It will be accompanied by remixes from Detroit’s house don Terrence Parker and Running Back head-honcho, Gerd Janson. Peace.

Fractures (Mark Zito) delivers a sure hit with his latest Won’t Win.. The lead single, from the upcoming Fractures EP release, ebbs with tension which feels like a slight constriction about one’s heart. Surely, there is trouble in the kingdom of love. And as I watched the vid I noticed a lot of the frames are back-lit wit red (passion), green (jealousy) and blue (peace and tranquility). The subtext can be easily read as the color spectrum representation of human relationships. No? And get this, the Fractures EP drops July 4th, the day in the U.S where the literal fireworks fly. Is this all some sort of mad coincidence? No matter.
 

 
So far I am loving Fractures smoky hued and soulful delivery, and I even got my ears advanced access to the Fractures EP. It is good. It is damn good. Actually the EP has the feel of a full blown album. And as good as the track Won’t Win is the release glows with other gems as well. The opening track Embers stands out. Additional tracks catching my attention were Cadence, It’s Alright and my favorite Mortal. The Fractures band definitely has a future inside my heart. Peace.

Melbourne, Australia-based Cut Copy have made us very happy as of late. Firstly, the forthcoming release of the deluxe re-issue of the bands classic Free Your Mind album. The release features 5-additional tracks, and if that ain’t reason to clap your hands together, then what is?

Rhetorical questions aside, there is also a shiny new video (replete with that new shiny video smell. LOVE!). The new visuals got direction from fellow Aussies Trouble Hands and starring the world renowned and obstreperous actor Ben Sinclair.

Hayden James will turn your ears out. It’s as simple as that. This Australian crooner serves it up hot and sticky with little room for resistance. Back in June he hit us hard with his Permission To Love joint, and even though its been several months since many have yet to recover. On his recently released and self-titled EP via Future Classic, the track Permission To Love is neatly packaged and scantily clad along side four additional lush tracks. Maybe its the coming Fall weather that has me stocking up on the slow and sensual jams. For playa’s and lovers alike know cold weather ’tis the season for snugglin’ and close quarter romance, right? And Hayden James is standard issue for undercover extracurricular “activities” and akin to throwing another log on the fire. Peace.
