Electronic Music – The Earology Dept.

Embeds allowing bloggers to easily embed videos from Distrify. Just go to any Distrify film page or player and copy the URL. Paste that URL in any WordPress blog and it will automatically be converted to an embedded Distrify player. If you are logged in to distrify.com it will automatically add your affiliate tracking code to your embeds. Make sure you turn on Auto-embeds in your WP settings and also make sure that the URL is on its own line and not hyperlinked (clickable when viewing the post). The plugin also extracts the still image from the film and saves it as the Featured Image for the post. This actually works for any Embed (not just Distrify) that you embed into your WordPress blog. Majical Cloudz did the best of things in 2013. They released the Impersonator LP. The man behind the music, songwriter Devon Welsh, reversed engineered songs from a pure emotional state, for our emotions forever remain the end result of our experiences. Bearing such a philosophy in mind the music production by Matthew Otto became more of a challenge. How to craft a sonic backdrop without falling into the muck of irrelevancy? Showcasing vocal sound over instrumentative preeminence. With Impersonator the music becomes the soft beating pulse of the heart and the lyrics are a body of work in salient motion. A balance of symbiotic magnitude, with the organically humanness of voice leading a human derivative by the hand.

moderat + ll = npr’s first listen

Monkytown Records partners with NPR to present Moderat’s new album, II, in its entirety via their “First Listen” series.

Moderat are Apparat (Sascha Ring) and Modeselektor (Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary). Both acts represent the Berlin electronic scene from the other side of the straight bass drum. On one side, there is Apparat, the thoughtful purveyor of sophisticated electronic pop music, and on the other, Modeselektor, the grand masters of subterranean bass and electrifying breakbeat. Together, the extreme contrast between Modeselektor’s throbbing bass and tricky beats and Apparat’s delicate vocals have created the unique Moderat vibe. Five years have passed since the release of their debut album and all three find themselves in new situations, assuming new responsibilities: as band leader (Apparat) and as label makers and dads (Modeselektor). The spectrum is an emotional one, and one that has increased stylistically. There is no longer a prevailing tone, and this in one badass album. The album drops August 6th 2013. Peace.

Yannick Ilunga is a visionary, and at only 21-years-old he is also as refreshing as he is talented. But, he is also somewhat of an anomaly.
