Plugin Name: Distrify Embed
Plugin URI: http://support.distrify.com/customer/portal/articles/264106-how-do-i-embed-on-a-wordpress-blog-
Description: Extends WordPress's Embeds allowing bloggers to easily embed videos from Distrify. Just go to any Distrify film page or player and copy the URL. Paste that URL in any WordPress blog and it will automatically be converted to an embedded Distrify player. If you are logged in to distrify.com it will automatically add your affiliate tracking code to your embeds. Make sure you turn on Auto-embeds in your WP settings and also make sure that the URL is on its own line and not hyperlinked (clickable when viewing the post). The plugin also extracts the still image from the film and saves it as the Featured Image for the post. This actually works for any Embed (not just Distrify) that you embed into your WordPress blog.

]]>Joe Goddard, bka Ulysses and fellow Hot Chip accomplice is a force to be reckoned with on so many levels. Let’s see, he’s a more than capable vocalist, a maestro of the synths and syncopated beats. No doubt, his is a world in which making timeless music is not just a means to an end, it is perhaps life-sustaining. I’m revisiting his August 2011 Gabriel EP for good reason, it transcends this-worldly plain and delivers you right into the arms of seventh heaven. The title-track, “Gabriel” (Ft. Valentina) and “All I Know” are 14 minutes 57 seconds of unadulterated bliss. This is music that nourishes the soul. And you know I just had to provide the optics for you enjoyment too. See and hear it all after the jump. Peace.

]]>Forgive me. When I first heard the London-based duo Alpines I thought Kate Bush and Siouxsie Sioux had somehow cloned themselves into one supremely gifted entity, but alas ’twas not the case. What was the case? Well, I had chanced upon none other than the lovely Catherine Pockson and the musically stalwart Robert Matthews all up in my ear space! And the more I heard, I more I grew curious for more. What nerve! I’ve no idea how such groove splashed sounds could have escaped me, but I’ve reconciled my shortcomings with this posting. By the way, I’m enamored to the gills with the Pop/Operatic vocals of Ms. Pockson. So much so, I find myself constantly clicking repeat as I raptly listen again and again. The song Cocoon is an August 2011 release, for which the Hope directed video appears below. And the track Why was released this past November with a little help from the dynamic Mary Jane Coles. Enjoy and as always. Peace.

]]>Like most people I love taking trips, even when traveling no further than my own mind. The Lafayette, CO duo Gauntlet Hair take me back and forward simultaneously in my very own Back to the Future-esque sound quest. I’m weird like that didn’t you know? Whatever. Regardless of my mental state at the moment, I hear so many nice sounds when listening to the song “Top Bunk” and its the categorization of those sound references that I usually avoid. Not this time because this one is such a fun mental mash-up. What I hear is 80’s alternative bands: for instance in my mind if the sound of New Order were genetically merged with the sound of the band Big Country then the resulting mutant would be Gauntlet Hair. Let me know if your feeling me (not literally) on this, well I’m off. Enjoy your trip too. Peace.
Also, to back up my 80’s references check out the William Doyle directed video for Gauntlet Hair‘s “Top Bunk” its badass!

]]>Dreamy and spliced with steady electric rainbow pulses. Yes, this is how my brain describes the NYC rock/synth foursome Hooray For Earth. Over the past several years the alternative music scene has witnessed the welcome return of the synth-driven band, and Hooray for Earth is among the top ensembles in this genre. On their first full-length debut LP front-man Noel Heroux and company have crafted some beauteous sound gems, filled with vibrant energy and scattered color schemes straight out of Jackson Pollock’s head. Although their album True Loves dropped earlier this year, if you haven’t listened to it your missing out. I have posted the video for the song “Sails”. The video is filled with twists and turns, with multiple permutations of a woman chasing herself down nearly vacant night time streets. It’s a bit surreal, kinda like Hooray for Earth’s music, but it’s all good. Peace
