Plugin Name: Distrify Embed
Plugin URI: http://support.distrify.com/customer/portal/articles/264106-how-do-i-embed-on-a-wordpress-blog-
Description: Extends WordPress's Embeds allowing bloggers to easily embed videos from Distrify. Just go to any Distrify film page or player and copy the URL. Paste that URL in any WordPress blog and it will automatically be converted to an embedded Distrify player. If you are logged in to distrify.com it will automatically add your affiliate tracking code to your embeds. Make sure you turn on Auto-embeds in your WP settings and also make sure that the URL is on its own line and not hyperlinked (clickable when viewing the post). The plugin also extracts the still image from the film and saves it as the Featured Image for the post. This actually works for any Embed (not just Distrify) that you embed into your WordPress blog.

]]>– “They Come In Gold” (from “The Phasing Shift” suite)
Herein bumps and soars Lese Majesty, the new sonic action of Shabazz Palaces. Honed and primal, chromed and primo. A unique and glorified offering into our ever-uniforming musical soundscape. Lese Majesty is a beatific war cry, born of a spell, acknowledging that sophistication and the instinctual are not at odds; Indeed an undoing of the lie of their disparate natures.
Lese Majesty is not a launching pad for the group’s fan base increasing propaganda. It is a series of astral suites, recorded happenings, shared. A dare to dive deep into Shabazz Palaces sounds, vibrations unfettered. A dope-hex thrown from the compartments that have artificially contained us all and hindered our sublime collusion.
These reveries were sent to Palaceer Lazaro and Fly Guy ‘Dai in the year of gun beat battles in excess; In a succession of days, whilst walking in dreams and in varied transcendental states….(every minute of every day is filled with observation and composition. In action). Songs are committed and gathered by robots at Protect and Exalt Labs, a Black Space in Seattle, Washington.
The visual features of Lese Majesty are resultant of the gleanings of fellow Constellationaire, Nep Sidhu.
The Black Constellation squads up, protects and exalts the messages within, and colludes accordingly. We thank you. Peace.
Pre-Order yours at the SubPop Mega Mart.

]]>Just ahead of Shabazz Palaces‘ soon to launch tour of Asia. Seattle, WA-based avant garde Hip Hop torch bearers release the video for An Echo from the Hosts that Profess Infinitum, better later than never-ish, right? The video was directed by Joris Grelet, and features molotov cocktails and sword wielding assassins. The video comes nearly two years after the release of 2011’s Black Up from which the track is taken. The duo, Palaceer Lazaro and Tendai Maraire, are hopefully in the lab putting together new material. We can only hope. Also, after the jump check out the recent Shabazz Palaces Remix of Animal Collective‘s New Town Burnout. Peace.

]]>Seattle-based hip-hop off-shoot Shabazz Palaces is a lot of things. For one, they aren’t in any way, shape or form typical of what one might expect from the world of rap, or any other genre for that matter. But, I imagine you’re going to be alright with the sound soon to be emanating from your speakers. Shabazz Palaces is led by Ishmael Butler aka Palaceer Lazaro. Ring a bell? No? That’s cool. However, there was a time when Ishmael Butler was also known by another name, he was ‘Butterfly‘ of Grammy award-winning jazz-rap group Digible Planets.
That was way back in the day, eons ago by industry standards of measuring time and space. And much like his past namesake, the ‘Butterfly’ has undergone another metamorphosis. With his latest project, under the guise of Palaceer Lazaro he has joined forces with multi-instrumentalist Tendai Maraire and formed the mysterious, celestial anti-body known as Shabazz Palaces.
Previously, the duo self-released the eclectic EPs, Eagles Soar, Oil Flows, as well as The Seven New, each stretching the boundaries of hip-hop into musical Pythagorean theorems. Now, we have the Black Up LP, which is so aptly released via the legendary Sub-Pop Records. After the jump, we have the first official video for the track “Are You… Can You… Were You? (Felt).” I highly recommend an oxygen tank, a space suit and a good pair of 3D glasses for your ears. Peace.

Take into account the music, which is genre busting too. You may sense an understatement in the mist, which if you listen to the tracks below you’ll immediately understand.
In 2009 Shabazz Palaces not only turned hip-hop on it’s proverbial ear, but the persona, previously known as Butterfly re-wrote its underlying code. Shabazz Palaces offers hip-hop processed through the gigantic particle accelerator at CERN. Songs begin in one place and culminate in another. The lyricism is dope, but in an altered state sort of way, i.e. dreamy and mystical yet introspective and consciousness raising. In it’s raw organic form the music is easily digestible ; it is akin to avant garde jazz , in that it has structure but it roams terrain previously unexplored by most hip hop heads.
With Shabazz Palaces you never step into the same river twice, with each listen a new facet is revealed. So, if your looking for Top 40 hip-hop forget about it. But if you are looking for that monster tsunami to ride into the wee hours of the morning then jump aboard.
I posted the old stuff first, the latest Shabazz Palaces album Black Up dropped June 28th of 2011. The track An Echo From The Hosts That Profess Infinitum is 100% butta’. At times it is appropriate to give a primer before you hit ’em with the straight dope. Peace.
