mgmt // alien days

It’s amazing how fans hunger for the even the most miniscule news about their favorite bands and artists (I’m the same way). Case in point, MGMT blew up the blogophere just over a week ago with the outing of their track Alien Days, and although it’s not the bands’ best effort it is still pretty cool. Peace. baby alpaca // sea of dreams

Soft and furry like good music should be.

Brooklyn, NYC-based Baby Alpaca (Chris Kittrell, Robert Philips and Zach McMillan) is perfectly suited for lazy days spent curled up with a warm blanket of melancholy. And if you like your music dreamy and woefully sweet then listen to Sea Of Dreams, and keep you ears on the look out for their forthcoming EP via music label Atlas Chair, it drops June 25th.

And just for you, check out the Sea Of Dreams video, it debuted on NPR. Peace. Continue reading “baby alpaca // sea of dreams”

capital cities // safe and sound + video

It’s a kaleidoscopic pill you swallow through your ear holes.

One sure thing you can count on when dropping the needle on any music by Capital Cities is it will remain fresh and crispy endlessly. This duo (Ryan Merchant
and Sebu Simonian) made impressive moves last year (loved their remake of The Purple Ones’ Nothing Compares 2 U), and in 2013 are slatted to drop their debut album In A Tidal Wave Of Mystery on June 11th. Continue reading “capital cities // safe and sound + video”

daft punk // get lucky + ft. pharrell williams (our sunday best)

“What do great artist do when you see a world around you that’s in turmoil? Some of the best artists make you feel good…” Niles Rodgers

The Parisian robotic-70’s babies Daft Punk (Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter) are the stuff of music legend, and yet their legend is still being written. Collectively they’re EDM Svengalis, the are too the personification of Disco euphoria. Continue reading “daft punk // get lucky + ft. pharrell williams (our sunday best)”

frank ocean // lost + video

Yup. It’s cool.

I love Frank Ocean. I mean really, what is there not to like about this young singer/songwriter? He’s highly inventive and his take on modern R&B is unlike anything I’ve witnessed in years. The song Lost appears on his 2012 debut release Channel Orange, and is nestled in-between the grandeur of  Pyramids (track 10) and the truncated jewel White (track 12 featuring John Mayer). The songs bumps along in a bossa nova fueled Pop overdose complete with female anatomy references  and drug terminology, it’s a familiar storyline ensconced within the velvety folds of Mr. Oceans vocals.  Peace. phoenix // entertainment (hot natured remix) + new album streaming on itunes

I know you got a thing for the boys from France and of course it’s totally understandable (they’re awesome sauce) and now I’m providing yet another reason to dance shamelessly into the night with the Hot Natured Remix of Phoenix’s Entertainment. It’s so infectious, so much so I think the CDC should be advised to take precautionary measures. Plus, right this very moment you can stream the band’s latest album Bankrupt from beginning to end on iTunes. I am not kidding (Insert my serious mug right here). Peace.

ellie goulding // my blood (kastle remix) + free remix album

For some reason there are quite a few remixes catching my attention right now and this Kastle remix of Ellie Goulding’s My Blood is one reason why. It’s groovy like a piping hot bowl of Thanksgiving gravy. Plus, it has the intoxicating vocals of Ellie Goulding, so really how can I resist? Oh yeah, before I forget, you can cop the exclusive free Halcyon Remixed album courtesy of Nike and Interscope Records. Peace.
