king krule // rock bottom

i have been so intrigued with the singer/songwriter king krule for some time now, and with each new song it is easy to see the grow and sonic expansion of this young london artist. today i got another wonderfully jangly tune, “rock bottom” and it’s filled with frenetic energy and personal accolades spun around archy marshall‘s unique vocals. this track is taken from his double a-side single out now via rinse. peace. vondalpark // dracula

it is so righteously good to hear new material from band vondalpark. not since their california analog dream and the more dynamic nyc stuff and nyc bags, which was in constant rotation of my playlist not so long ago. the uk trio is gearing to release their debut full-length ‘seabed’ via r&s records. after the jump listen to the first single release, “dracula”. the album drops march 13th next year. peace. rusko // kapow ep

dubstep/bass/glitch artist extraordinaire rusko (christopher mercer) has a thing for turning out bangin’ music. you know, the kind of music that’ll make your trunk rattle off the hinges. with his latest release the ‘kapow ep’ rusko is creating a veritable feeding frenzy by giving it away as a free download. and although this is only a four-track release each song sounds much bigger and badder than the sum of their individual parts. (1. yeah 2. booyakasha 3. bring it back 4. like this) each one is a certified keeper. crank ’em loud and enjoy. peace. Continue reading “rusko // kapow ep”

slow moving millie // please, please, please let me get what i want

it is a hard task to recreate, with barely little hope of succeeding, the smiths’ melancholy and self-loathing classic ode to the unfairness of living. yet, slow moving millie does just that with musical aplomb and a tenacious spirit to get it right. thusly, capturing the forlorn mood i thought morrissey the lone possessor of. listen to, “please, please, please let me get what i want” and then dry your eyes and go find the new album ‘renditions’! it is available via itunes and at amazon. peace. ofei // london (our sunday best)

maybe it’s the warm amber piano intro, or the artist’s soft lilting voice, which appears both pleading and beautifully nostaligic. whatever the case i am all ears and this week’s sunday best was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. the artist/producer/ ofei is a bit of a mystery but i don’t mind, and on his first single release (from a hopefully forthcoming album), “london” is fairly obvious there will are many people waiting impatiently for much more. also, check out ofei’s hunger mixtape on mixcloud, i did and it is quite impressive. peace.
