Plugin Name: Distrify Embed
Plugin URI: http://support.distrify.com/customer/portal/articles/264106-how-do-i-embed-on-a-wordpress-blog-
Description: Extends WordPress's Embeds allowing bloggers to easily embed videos from Distrify. Just go to any Distrify film page or player and copy the URL. Paste that URL in any WordPress blog and it will automatically be converted to an embedded Distrify player. If you are logged in to distrify.com it will automatically add your affiliate tracking code to your embeds. Make sure you turn on Auto-embeds in your WP settings and also make sure that the URL is on its own line and not hyperlinked (clickable when viewing the post). The plugin also extracts the still image from the film and saves it as the Featured Image for the post. This actually works for any Embed (not just Distrify) that you embed into your WordPress blog.

21st Century Blondie? Maybe, but whatever the driving force behind Brooklyn band Friends they know how to strut their stuff. Listen to the song “I’m His Girl”, and it is easy to see their bravado is more than show and tell. Lead singer Samantha Urbani vocals hold up well with the post-punk sound that Friends embodies. And the bass line that threads so funkily throughout the song “I’m His Girl” is thick like black strap molasses in January. Check out the other tracks as well and let them man handle your ears for a bit. By the way their album drops late October. Peace.
There is a lot of great music coming from our brethren and sistren from across the pond. So much so, it is increasingly difficult not to be impressed. For instance, one listen to the sparkling gem of“Leopard of Honour” by Palais Royal Blue and you may just board a Lufthansa flight and fly into Manchester, UK to thank him. I love the plush and vapory other-worldly sound. Plus, its not too heavy. I can move through it effortlessly like star-stuff shooting across the dark scrim of night sky. Just the right amount of dream atmosphere to smooth over realities rough edges. The album is set for release October 10th. David Roocroft you are the space-jam man. Peace.
Alright I’m out of chill mode, for now. Up next I’m digging into something funky and a bit spicy. Enter Sola Rosa and several remixes off their track “Turn Around” featuring Iva Lamkum. However, the complete Remixes LP Get It Together dropped August 2010 and offers a sampling of the variety of music they’ve produced over the years. In that sense the Remixes release is a superb primer to introduce you to the majesty of Sola Rosa. Pump it.
From the last few posts one can immediately discern that I am in a decidedly chill frame of mind. Pushing the chill theme further, check out the Entresol Former Matter EP. It is lushness personified, with its sonic beats and soothing synths topped with placid vocals. Not really sure when I’m getting off this celestial roller coaster. But for now I’m just enjoying the view from way up here above the clouds. I really like the “Danny Daze Flip It” Mix the best. Check it.
The universe created music for every conceivable situation, right? Right now I feeling pretty chill and so to soundtrack this particular mood I am playing one man band Cavaliers of Fun . I like the spacey sound, and I am set adrift upon rifts of intergalactic beats pelting my eardrums like cotton candy asteroids. You get the idea. The Sharing Space Secrets EP is the perfect little sound pill for whatever ails you. Thank you Ricco Vitali. Peace.
It’s not that I have been resisting Neon Indian, not at all. But with the release of the single “Polish Girl” from the album Era Extraña I am finally paying attention. Admittedly, I am not much of a follower, so you’ll notice that I may not post an artist or band just to keep up with everyone else. Hey, its just the way I do things. My dictum is, “If I don’t like a band I won’t post them,” its that simple. I do like Polish Girl as well as few other tracks on the LP Era Extraña. Click on the link to Neon Indian’s webpage and check out the entire album.
The San Francisco music scene is red hot, so for a band to rise above the fray is saying something. Well, The Pentacles are saying a lot and carrying a big stick, so to speak. The album Tête-À-Tête was released July 22nd, and it embodies 80’s British garage rock at it’s finest. All the songs rock in just the right way, not too overbearing and embodying the right amount of recklessness. Peace, better yet ANARCHY!
Everything Everything is one of those rare anomalies of a band, in that they have the uncanny ability to be several different bands rolled up into one, listen to their 2010 album Man Alive and you’ll understand just what I mean. In the song “MY KZ, UR BF” the listener is taken on a journey and for reasons justified they often don’t fancy returning to terra firma. Frontman Jonathan Higgs is definitely stealing the show with his forthright vocals, sounding like Chris Martin of Coldplay but way cooler and with much more swagger. I also love the blatant R&B rhythms melding ever so gently with the svelte electric-Pop-ish sound. It works, and that is all that matters. I also included a live version of the deadly sexy song “Schoolin'”, like me you will own this track come daylight, yeah its bad, MJ bad. I posted the song “NASA Is On Your Side” just so you can feel it’s icy hand reach inside your chest and grab a fistful of your heart.
It’s Friday and is time to get your groove on. Now, I don’t know about you but some good booty shakin’ music is a major ingredient to a memorial Friday night. I’ve been scouring the world to bring you music that will provide an apt soundtrack for tonight’s festivities. The Frail pairs well with not only adult beverages, but low lights and a warm body to dance (fast or slow) with as well. The EP Laser Over Lovers dropped back in March of this year and it still smells as fresh as a summer daisy. The song “Sex Is What Sells” is saucy little number that will have you smitten in no time at all.
Every so often you run into a band that just does it for you, whatever that means. Maybe its the music or the vocals, or perhaps it is everything about them. For me Geographer fits the bill, but what really won me over was their remake, or cover of New Order’s “Age Of Consent.” Not every band should risk screwing up a classic but Geographer got it right. Although their Album Animal Shapes came out last year it doesn’t matter, because good music is timeless, and besides if you never heard of Geographer until today isn’t still considered new music. I have also included a clip of Geographer playing their track “Night Winds” live. Yup, its confirmed, no smoke and mirrors with this band they’re the real deal.
