Prinzhorn Dance School // Happy In Bits (Video)

Suzi Horn and Tobin Prinz minimalistic post-punk music and it will definitely get your attention and it just might make you snarl ala Billy Idol. The song I’m so enthusiastic about is “Happy In Bit” taken from their LP Clay Class and it is a whole lot of raucous fun with dark circles beneath its eyes and a menacing smile. Yup put on you well-worn Dr. Martens for this one. Peace.

Carolina Chocolate Drops // Leaving Eden

Dom Flemons, Rhiannon Giddens, Adam Matta and multi-instrumentalist Hubby Jenkins are the North Carolina–based Carolina Chocolate Drops and they are just as organic and original as they are talented and modest. The music they make is like hot buttered Cracklin’ Bread and red-eye gravy for your ears. And with their latest release Leaving Eden, follow-up to their critically lauded label debut—2010′s Grammy Award–winning Genuine Negro Jig, they’re in right fine form. The album is out now on Nonesuch Records, I highly recommend the vinyl format by the way. You can also cop their music HERE and on iTunes. Forgive me, I’m crushing so hard on their song, “Pretty Girl”. Peace. Continue reading “Carolina Chocolate Drops // Leaving Eden”

chromatics // candy (official video)

And the Chromatics just keep ’em coming, which is seriously just peaches and cream for me. Here, I’ve got the 4th single “Candy” from Kill For Love. Still no official details regarding a release date. After the jump listen and watch the Alberto Rossini directed video and let Ruth Radelet‘s tale up there. I’ve also included the “Lady” video as well, so stay for a bit and chill. Peace. Continue reading “chromatics // candy (official video)”

The Fiber // Lead

The Fiber is Sjaak Kassies. I am familiar with his wonderful vocal work with the band Obsidian, and he is known to provide vox for one of my favorite projects Space Flakes. However, he stands pretty good on his own two feet plucking gorgeously on his acoustic guitar and singing his heart out. After the jump, check out his latest single release “Lead” and it is a right fine piece of work. Peace. Continue reading “The Fiber // Lead”

José González // Cycling Trivialities (Our Sunday Best)

Today, and perhaps most days, could use a bit of what José González is putting out into the universe for our ears to digest like sugared-sorrow and humble pie. Yes, José González music is the epitome of sweetness and light, and with a voice like the spent ashes of embers wafting on the exhalations of tenebrous sullen mood, it’s easy to see, and hear why so folks warm themselves before his solar flame. With the song, “Cycling Trivialities” it is smoky folk fare with the soul of a dour canticle, but perhaps it always a call to break out of a rut and wake to the act letting go of the petty and spread the energy of love all around. Well, that’s my two-cents for all it is worth. I’ll shut my face now, enjoy the music. Peace. Continue reading “José González // Cycling Trivialities (Our Sunday Best)”

Odd Future // The Odd Future Tape

You know the deal with OFWGKTA? If you do then you’re ahead of the game because I’m lost. For real though the resident mad men (and one mad woman in Syd tha Kid) of Odd Future are doing it again and just behind the release by Hodgy Beats we now get The Odd Future Tape to drape our nights with insane to the membrane delights. And believe me, it’s not a disappointment. Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All forever! You can download the entire mixtape here: OFWGKTA FREE DOWNLOAD. Peace. Grimes // Genesis Ft. Deniro Farrar (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)

There isn’t much not to like about Claire Boucher and her musical outlet/persona Grimes. Her latest album Visions is something one can do all sorts of things to, but mostly a body can get lost for hours on end just vibing out and surfing the inter-channels of your mind. After the jump check out her song “Genesis” reworked by Ryan Hemsworth with the addition of the unexpected words and rhymes of Deniro Farrar flowing effortlessly of Grimes’ inherent cool. Peace. Continue reading “Grimes // Genesis Ft. Deniro Farrar (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)”

Karin Park // Fryngies (Moullinex Remix)

What happens when a girl from Dalarna, Sweden, grows up with the stunning voice of an angel? Well, she makes a living as a singer, duh! I’m talking about Karin Park, and she is indeed blessed (and badass). Karin’s latest LP draws references from a myriad of after dark and dance inspiring influences, i.e. Dubstep, Industrial, Electro, as well as the dirty deeds of Synthpop, all this wrapped around Ms. Park’s hauntingly beautiful voice. My favorite remix here is the Funtcase treatment, love it! After the jump check out additional mixes, as well as the original “Fryngies.” This one is a new favorite and is getting lots of play whilst using the night as cover for legal (mostly) and unmentionable deeds. I hope you like it too. Peace. Continue reading “Karin Park // Fryngies (Moullinex Remix)”
