saucy monky // listening to morrissey

what is your ideal of heaven? for many heaven can be pretty matter of fact: a bowl of macaroni of cheese for example. yet, for others it can be more abstract, less specific but still it looms there half-way between one’s subconscious and consciousness. my heaven (one of them), hey who says you gotta’ have just one idea of heaven? anyway, heaven for me involves music and the la-based band saucy monky have this little gem of a song, “listening to morrissey”. the song weaves tranquil melody with intelligent lyricism; two essential combinations which encourage a listener to click repeat over and over. for more, and i highly suggest you check out more, visit the band’s soundcloud, and while you at it watch their latest video for the song, “awkward” it’ll make you … feel things. peace. ellie goulding // anything could happen (submerse remix)

for me the adoration of ms. ellie goulding started with her delicate voice as it sung earlier, and memorable tunes such as, “under the sheets” and the acoustic laden ode “wish i stayed”. but more recently, with her remake of the weeknd’s “high for this” i was smitten all over again. so it is with great anticipation i await the release of her forthcoming sophomore album ‘halcyon’. the album drops october 8th but you can pre-order it via itunes. peace. st. lucia // september

the ever compelling brooklyn-based electro-pop band st. lucia are gearing up for their forthcoming lp titled ‘september’ from which the title track borrows the same name. the release comes via columbia and neon gold respectively, and you can expect it to drop early 2013. if the sonically pleasing first single is any indication, well hold on to your ears because it’s going to be a good one. peace. pretend // those luminous noises are god

it is always great to hear a band whose simple love for making great music is paramount to everything else the band stands for. and nowhere is the former statement more evident than with the foursome pretend . the song, “those luminous noises are god” is grand and sweeping, almost as if it is culled from the fiery stuff of newly born star. i would think it impossible not to fall head heels for this song, which is an 8:31 flight of fancy taken from the LA’s band 2010 debut album release bones in the soil, rust in the oil. peace. stars // the north

canadian pop giants stars deliver another exceptional lp filled with both upbeat and heart searing songs aplenty. being the melancholy soul that i am my favorite track is the painfully beautiful, “400” with it’s mundane, yet touching lyrics and somber score. honestly though the latter segment of the album (track 6 and after) is great candle light music but i’ll let you make up your own (as only you can). after the jump you’ll also hear a couple clever remixes, “diamond ring” runaway love (stars remix) and the recent, “the theory of relativity (diamond rings remix). also, if you want to catch this darling of a band in concert check the tour dates to see of they’re coming to a venue near you. hope you enjoy. peace. dragonette // live in this city (video exclusive)

the generously gorgeous martina sorbara, and those two other human specimens (dan Kurtz and joel stouffer), no diss guys we just really like looking at ms. s with her pouty lips and doe-like eyes. anyway, what was i saying? oh i remember… canadian trio dragonette have a new video for their upbeat and vibrant song, “live in this city“. in it the band find themselves doing the street dance thing amongst other things. if you find yourself moving about to this one might i suggest heading over to the band’s website and streaming the whole lp? once there you can also pre-order their forthcoming album ‘bodyparts‘and peruse upcoming tour dates and generally get all up in the band’s biz. peace.
