phoenix  //  trying to be cool + a-trak remix

As if the French band Phoenix needed any help, right? Anywho, the band has their song Trying To Be Cool retooled by the stylistically cool and musically prolific Canadian  A-Trak. There are also a couple of other laudable remixes of the TTBC track by Soul Clap and Breakbot. And if your in mood for the original un-besmirched version I got the video after the jump too. The latest Phoenix album is out now via Glassnote (U.S.) and Loyauté (Worldwide). Peace.

dent may // born too late

dent may // born too late

Dent May offers us the super smooth track Born Too Late and it gets some especial treatment by house legend Larry Heard (Mr. Fingers). The results are perfect ear stimulation and body motivation. Good job Mr. Heard. Also, make sure to reserve your copy by pre-ordering Dent May’s forthcoming Warm Blanket LP, it drops August 27th via Paw Tracks Records. And if you like this remix you may just want to check out Dent May’s soundcloud page too. Peace.

Gentleman Hall pretty much put summer on the map with the totally good vibe track Sail Into The Sun. And now the sunny and infectious song is made ever more summery in the very capable hands of André Allen Anjos for this RAC remix. Enjoy the free download. Peace. brothertiger // in mind

brothertiger  //   in mind

Brothertiger delivers the goods with Future Splendors, this nostalgic new ten-track album is follow-up to his debut, Golden Years. The album is laid out with an abundance of luxurious synths and sparkling accoutrement, as is the production work. This LP seethes with an intricate and enveloping aura, and the melodies and lyrics are undeniably lush and meaningful. John Jagos‘ vocals are masterfully sung throughout, and as a result this may just be the best Brothertiger to date. I am posting the lead-single, In Mind and keep in mind, the album drops September 24th via Mush Records. Peace.

coco morier // hallucination + video

coco morier  //  hallucination + video

Last year folks were sufficiently smitten with Coco Morier‘s Strangers May Kiss EP release, and now she’s back with a remarkable Cause and Effect series for her track, Hallucination. According to the press release, “The “Cause and Effect” series was brought to life by Nick Ebeling, founder of Dirt Bike Press. Ebeling’s goal for the ongoing project is to profile artists across all genres and varying artistic mediums through the DBP brain trust. Dirt Bike Press not only documents the artists’ endeavors, but creates an artifact from the meeting of DBP and the artist for both insight and artistic use.” Sounds good to me. Peace.

It’s Monday and since I don’t regularly imbibe in coffee-nated (made up words are my thang) beverages music often is the “thing” to get me going in too early hours of a new day. Check out the Aussie dj/producer combo wordlife and their blood revving Small Talk / Breakthrough EP. After the jump listen to the Doc Daneeka LGO Remix of Small Talk and shake sumpin’. Peace.

teen // carolina

Taking in the new video by NYC-based TEEN is like shooting rainbows and moonshine into your eyeballs. Not that I know this little metaphorical referential tidbit from personal experience but who cares. What’s important is the psych-rock driven Carolina is deliciously good, and the video gives any viewer reason to smile a dreamy smile. By the way, the track is taken from the band’s Carolina EP available now via Carpark Records. Peace. Continue reading “teen // carolina”

canyons // blame me

If your looking for a place where music seems to grow from the ground and into your brain like an invasive species of earwigs, then Australia is that place. Electronic music making duo the Canyons are serving up something special with their latest Pink Gin EP and it’s first single Blame Me. I love it and hopefully you will too. Peace. The “Blame Me” 12-inch is out right now, with the digital version to follow on July 30th via Club Mod. Peace. Continue reading “canyons // blame me”
