Fresh out of the hotbed of new talent pool that NYC perpetually spawns I give you Future Of What, there one of the latest bands out of Brooklyn. On June 26th you’ll be able to sample their Moonstruck EP, which features the ever so cuddly track “I Wait For You.” The song was recorded earlier this year by the much capable Daniel Schlett (Here We Go Magic, DIIV). Amidst swirling striations of synth and rapid fire electronic bursts Blair’s summery vocals will have you yearning for much more. You’ll be an instant fan. Peace. melody’s echo chamber // crystallized
Super talented and eclectic Parisian Melody Prochet embodies a sound at once mysterious and scintillating, with an assault of muddled guitar and rough-hewn synth work. Check out Melody’s Echo Chamber and her song, “Crystallized” and take a ride through a miasma of electrified cloud cover. No details on the release of MEC‘s debut album In King’s Park (Perth), but as always I’ll keep you posted. Peace Continue reading “melody’s echo chamber // crystallized”
how to dress well // ocean floor for everything
The music project known as How to Dress Well‘s latest track is the equivalent of another bullet in the chamber of the most capable of seducer. It opens with lush tones indicative of dreamscape rather than song. Then Tim Krell’s vocals crash every so tenderly against your ear and it’s a wrap. “Ocean Floor For Everything” is taken from HTDW‘s forthcoming 2nd LP Total Loss, look for it this coming Autumn via Acéphale. aesop rock // zero dark thirty
unsigned hype, front line aeronauts flurry, zero dark thirty, zero friends, minotaur-fugly stepchild, evoke lunch jumped over plunging necklines, up, beside tongue-tied hungry enzymes, devolved into mothmen munching textiles, punisher, out past go-time, back 10 fried worms chubbier, brown grass both sides, canned food, manmade tools, Lanacane, band-aids, mandrake root, bindle on a broom stick, pancaked shoes and handshake-proof campaign, can’t lose, can’t gain, smoke out moles like a force of nature, pray fortune return to his favor, swiftly, maybe in the form of a nest egg, maybe in the form of a tesla death ray, or a solid gold scene with something better to celebrate than powder on your face like a flat foot on jelly day, m-m-moral compass all batshit, spinning in the shadows of immoral magnets, are we supporting the artist or enabling the addict, I mean, I guess it matters to me, I wish it mattered to you, how a thousand virtues, kick the same bucket like chinatown turtles

fox the cat // we will build
The fine young men from the mid-west Fox The Cat have released a new song today, and like everything they’ve done thus far I like it. No surprise there, especially with a song like “We Will Build” I’ve been listening to it non-stop and it makes me want to lasso the moon. Check it out after the jump. Also, you can download the band’s free three song EP on Soundcloud. Peace. Continue reading “fox the cat // we will build”
the hunting accident // parks and trees
“Every human being, even the youngest, is already old – that is, so close to death that he or she does not, in any case, have time to efface the accidental quality of the accidents of which his or her life is composed… We human beings are always more our accidents than our choice.” – Odo Marquard “In Defense Of The Accidental”
I lifted the above quote directly from the band The Hunting Accident‘s webpage. But alas, do not mark me thief just yet, because what I do I do for good reason dear one. In the main,, the quote describes us all, but for the band to select and present it as a sort of opening statement speaks volumes to a certain philosophy or acceptance of our inability to fully control anything, let alone our own haphazard destinies. Yet, perhaps they’re just being clever. Whichever line of reasoning you select to adhere to is quite fine and dandy with moi. Yet, the quote holds true! For here we are, through no fault of our own: you, I, and The Hunting Accident have collided accidentally and wondrously to boot. And this utterly delightful intersection has bought us the bounty of their music. The band’s Trees And Parks 10″ is scheduled to drop July 17th via The New Black label. The songs are laden with punkish ferociousness tempered with rollicking keys and bursts of roguish guitar. After the jump listen to the songs “Aubergine” and “Parks And Trees” you’ll get the feel of barely contained angst and rebellion. The music gets up in your face with its swollen eyes, rent flesh and badge of honor bruises. But these songs are also the stories of us all, the good, the bad and the right of passage ugly ones. Peace. Continue reading “the hunting accident // parks and trees”
py // tripping on wisdom (free download)
Jade Elizabeth Pybus bka Py is a succubus of the highest order (compliment). She’s a Σειρήν too of phenomenal ability. She’s a daughter of Achelous. A soulful sister of the order Song of Seduction. This jewel box of a mixtape, Tripping On Wisdom is pretty catacombs and vox chocolat. It is labyrinth of spine tingly spells by which to ensnare us, so why fight it? Breton, Throwing Snow, Damu, Raffertie and Greenwood Sharps collectively they see it and hear it. Perhaps they’ve a muse, or perhaps it’s the other way round. Whatever and however, Py is here to stay and bless us with her radiantly adorned beauty of a voice. I am gladdened by her arrival into the world of music, and why you may wonder are so many are equally enthralled and rightly smitten? Check out her free mixtape Tripping On Wisdom available via Facebook . And if seeing is believing, after the jump lay your peepers upon the Simone Pellegrini directed visuals for Py’s song “Lungs”. Py is a bridge and a weaver. She takes the yarns of many genres and yes the tapestry is so soulfully sweet. Peace. Continue reading “py // tripping on wisdom (free download)”
the darlingtons // decades dance
The Darlingtons officially release their album today! However, a word of caution. Don’t even think about getting within earshot of this album without a proximity suit. Yeah, it’s that hot. No doubt this album will be one of the best of 2012 hands down. After the jump listen to the full album stream of Decades Dance, by the way these babies need to be played extremely loud for maximum results. As the songs wash over you you’ll notice how every single track makes its way into the deepest recesses of your brain; and there it’ll stay lodged and rockin’ for, er… forever. Peace. trentemøller // my dreams (ft. marie fisker) acoustic version
Danish indie-electronic impresario and artist Anders Trentemøller has debuted some brand spanking new moving pictures for the live acoustic version of “My Dreams.” This little gem of sound features the sultry vocals of previous collaborator and acquaintance Marie Fisker, Trentemøller released “My Dreams” digitally and on 7″ for Record Store Day via his own In My Room label. The single is “a soft, euphoric pop-ambient cover of the bluesy 1984 rocker by influential Hollywood punks the Gun Club,” explains SPIN.com. Peace. florence welch + dev hynes // never let me go (Our Sunday Best)
It is hard to time-stamp the beautifully robust vocals of Florence Welch. Because, quite frankly hers is truly a unique and damn the cliché “timeless voice.” I mean really, try as I might I cannot imagine her in any era previous to this one. Yet, at the same time I can easily imagine her a thousand years from now still sounding like a contemporary of some far flung future pop. And if the original song, “Never Let Me Go” wasn’t already brain boner material as is, when you add Dev Hynes how can you expect mere mortals to function after rubbing up against such a musical coupling? You can’t and we won’t. This one was already divine; now it has a halo too and eyes with a slight devilish grin. Peace.
