Without a shred of doubt Moby is a veritable sound messiah sent to aid in the deliverance of sub par musical choices. He leads us, rather melodically, out of the wasteland pop music purgatory and into the lofty heights of his very own refuge of musical bliss. Oh yeah, it’s like that and that’s just the way it is. Now, enter another indisputable icon, David Lynch. And really there is little left to say but enjoy and get your musical worship on. By the way, you get the “The Poison Tree (David Lynch Remix) as a FREE DOWNLOAD courtesy of my friends at RCRD LBL. Peace. Continue reading “Moby // The Poison Tree (David Lynch Remix)”
Jake Mattison // To The Old House (You Return) Our Sunday Best
When it comes to music you can’t fool the ears. They recognize good music when they hear it. The ears bypass the brain and communicate directly with the heart; and together they listen. Each passing the music between them like a shared bottle of the finest ambrosia. Each shedding tears of joy at the sad beauty of it all. Jake Mattison creates music destined to be concealed in the eardrum and lodged permanently in the hallowed chambers of one’s cor caroli; the brightest star in your body’s constellation. Listen to “To The Old House (You Return) and “Sorrow” and know beauty delivered on the fragile wings of song. Despite pain, setbacks and whatever else life has thrown at you. Jake Mattison grabs his guitar, opens his mouth and settles the troubled waters around us. Thus buoying our forbearance and steeling our nerves to breathe the deep breath of hope. His music allows us to swim to safety, giving us resolve. Enough to at least seek peace and approach respite, with our ears attentively cocked and listening, asking nothing more. Peace. Soul Clap // EFUNK
According to their official biography, “Before today is yesterday and after tomorrow is the future, Elyte and Cnyce’s paths were crossed for all time when a Sun Ra light beam sent from Saturn collided with the P-Funk Mothership and sent them tumbling to earth. Now, Soul Clap time travels on a musical spaceship of dopeness.” Yes, that’s how it all went down, and aren’t we the lucky ones to now have this space-traveling and soul sound-bending duo (Cnyce and Elyte) bka Soul Clap amongst us? And, we thank the universe for delivering Soul Clap safely unto our collective ear spaces. I’m just thankful their EFUNK album is now living and breathing amongst us mere mortals, and just you know it’ll blow your hair back. The 13-track album in now available on iTunes for your pleasure. Daniel Bortz // Rescue Me
It is always a good when time when Daniel Bortz is spinning the wheels of steel and mixing it up. Check out his Heal The World EP out now via Berlin-based Suol Records. And although the whole EP is sweet the last track “Rescue Me” takes you there. I have a feeling you’ll like it, so crank it and let it do what it do. Peace. Deidre & The Dark // Don’t Blame Me Now
Deidre (of Savoir Adore fame) has a style drawn for an abundance of influences. I hear dashes of Morrissey, a sprinkle of Portishead and a smidgen of Robert Smith/The Cure. But the music is also heavily steeped in classic 50’s and early 60’s girl groups, think i.e. Patience And Prudence and The Lennon Sisters, you get my drift, right? Nonetheless, the song “Don’t Blame Me Now” from the Curious Parcel EP (2011) is some kind of wonderful. I’m lovin’ it! Peace. Continue reading “Deidre & The Dark // Don’t Blame Me Now”

This track is spliced, diced, and served up extra nice by none other than ATL’s very own Hayden Kramer bka heRobost and in his very capable hands “Lover’s Duet” turns out smooth like butta’! born ruffians // countdown (beyoncé cover) video
Hailing from Ontario, Canada the band Born Ruffians are Luke Lalonde (guitar/vocals), Mitch Derosier (bass), Steven Hamelin (drums) and Andy Lloyd. And yes, they make beautiful rock indie music effortlessly, and recently they’re def one of my favorites bands to listen to. The boys are holed up in the lab right now, doing what they do, i.e. making great music! I imagine soon enough they’ll sprinkle us with songs laced with fairy dust aplenty. But, until then let’s just enjoy a Beyoncé cover, as well as, a trip or two down Born Ruffians memory lane. Peace. Continue reading “born ruffians // countdown (beyoncé cover) video”
