Yuck. You know what this band can do ’cause their reputation precedes them. The new song, “Chew” is everything you’d expect it to be. It rocks. If you’re a fan and are heading to Coachella check ’em out they’ll be there just for you. Peace. Continue reading “Yuck // Chew”

RØSENKØPF // Burning Spirits

Joyce // Keep The Lights On

There are a great deal of musical connections when trying to decipher who Katherine Fussey is or isn’t. But most of these connections have little, if anything, to do with the music. However, in an attempt to build buzz or foster interest, the blogosphere has literally fleshed out her very literal family tree in an attempt to …. I don’t know, legitimize her. No need. All one has to do is listen to the music Katerine Fussey makes as Joyce. The single release, “Keep The Lights On,” is a club-worthy track that I’m sure will garner countless spins in as many equally countless clubs the world over. So, no need to name drop blood relations in regards to Joyce. This young songstress, well she’s more than holding her own in a quite danceable and groovy fashion. After the jump, check out the original “Keep The Lights On” track, as well as, the Clams Casino Remix and don’t forget to rest your eyes on the official video. Peace. Continue reading “Joyce // Keep The Lights On”

Zammuto // Idiom Wind

Zammuto is the self-titled album envisioned by Nick Zammuto and fleshed out by the many musical skill sets of fellow band members  Sean Dixon on drums, Gene Back (multi-intrumentalist), and Mikey Zammuto on bass. Bear In Heaven // The Reflection Of You

Perennial rockers Jon Philpot, Joe Stickney, and Adam Wills are the indie band Bear in Heaven, and they’ve  released their latest album, I Love You It’s Cool, this week. The first single, “Reflection of You” is a frenetic sugar- coated electro gem worth sharing with your ears and your friends alike. I have also included the Lovelock Remix, this remix slows things down a bit and sets out wine and candles. Enjoy. Peace.  Continue reading “Bear In Heaven // The Reflection Of You”

Zulu Winter // Silver Tongue

I first reviewed Zulu Winter way back in October ’11,  and today I’m just as impressed with the band as the was then. Now, with the band’s latest single release “Silver Tongue,” I’m just plain excited! The new song is taken from the  band’s forthcoming debut LP Language out on the veritable Arts & Crafts label. You can also pre-order the new album Language at Amazon and iTunes. Peace. Continue reading “Zulu Winter // Silver Tongue”

Wildcat! Wildcat! // End Of The World Everyday

Los Angeles trio Wildcat! Wildcat! are a sure bet to get you in a particular mood. A mood that leaches every worry away, or at least dull those concerns to a low hum. No doubt Jesse Taylor, Michael Wilson and Jesse Carmichael are being compared to MGMT but that’s ok. Because good music is good music. Point blank. But make no mistake these guys are not copy cats by any stretch of the imagination. And with songs like “Mr. Quiche” and “End Of The World Everyday” you’ll find yourself simply falling for Wc!Wc! for who they are and not for who you think their music sounds like. Peace. Continue reading “Wildcat! Wildcat! // End Of The World Everyday”

Nikki & The Dove // Tomorrow

Malin Dahlström and Gustaf Karlöf collectively pit themselves against our eardrums as the band Nikki & The Dove. And thus far they’re winning us over to the bright side with kaleidoscopic musical fare one song at a time. And their  latest track “Tomorrow” is another example of why I am eagerly awaiting their forthcoming Instinct LP, which is expected to drop May 14th. To get your copy make sure to pre-order it on iTunes. And if that wasn’t enough you can watch the official video for the “Tomorrow” on YouTube. And after the jump I got the videos for the song “The Fox” which is my favorite song by N&TD right after their highly addictive “The Drummer” by the way. And I also have the video “DJ, Ease My Mind”. This ought to keep your busy for a hot minute. Peace. Continue reading “Nikki & The Dove // Tomorrow”

Greensky Bluegrass // Handguns EP

The name Michigan is derived from the  Chippewa Indian word “meicigama” which translates into great water, and refers to the Great Lake. And perhaps our tears of happiness and sadness add to the dark-ribboned depths of those storied waters.

Somethings are immutable. The healing power of music is one such thing. Like a smooth shot of white lightning, the sounds of Greensky Bluegrass levels things out and calms a heated heart and buoys a hopeful one. It’s also the  perfect accompaniment to the dwindling light of day. From Kalamazoo, Michigan these fine men are brethren to our precarious seasons, our big sky and a wilderness none too far away just outside our front doors. And the music made by Dave Bruzza, Paul Hoffman, Michael Bont, Anders Beck and Mike Devol is more than fiddles and twangy homespun goodness, it is both remedy and heartbreak. Their music ferries us away to a place less log-jammed with complications, allowing our hearts spill into the larger bastions of the great lakes that dot the compass our home state. Grab a copy of the band’s Handguns EP (2011), and with songs like, “Don’t Lie”, “Cold Feet” and the epical beauty “All Four” it’s hard to deny their longstanding talent. Oh this is wholesome music, satisfying the partaker on a deeper level with every listen. Come frame your moments with GSBG and know kinship. You can catch ’em live at The Loft (April 12th), the Magic Bag (April 13th), and at Bell’s Eccentric Café (April 14th). And for more great music check out Greensky Bluegrass on SoundCloud and on find additional tour dates and band info at www.greenskybluegrass.com. Peace.
