If ever one could lasso a cumulus cloud and melt it, then drip drop the soft rain glow against one’s ears I am pretty certain it would like replicate Sally Shapiro’s giant-sized petite vocals. Here, Johan Agebjörn and Ms. Shapiro take the Electric Youth track The Best Thing and treat it like a bejeweled whisper. Its lovely stuff. Alabama Shakes is a band of unassuming wonder and mesmerizing candor. In 2012 they spilled the coolest beans with their (Boys & Girls) release. We know the carnage their collective artistry waged; left us drunk on lust and languid. We were loved and tossed, lovingly bruised, and in the end left spent, yet still groping under the covers for one more warm feel. Damon Albarn, hey man its been a year and some change, and I am still inextricably in love with you, what gives? The Everyday Robots album is yet another maudlin gold standard for dark, moody and introspective brooding. From the title track Everyday Robots right on down to the very last song Heavy Seas of Love, this is a mellow ride that’s worth oft repeating. By the by, you’ll repeat Lonely Press Play more than a lil’ bit. Peace. Continue reading “damon albarn | everyday robots”

deleted scenes | throwback thursday

Deleted Scenes was a band but they called it quits just about a year ago and I miss them.

If you ever drank from the cups of sorrow and woe well into the night then these are the songs that’ll keep you sane. These are songs fit for raging and swinging your fists into the guilty seconds, minutes and hours. But these are also the songs that’ll becalm your white water pulse and allow you, to if not see reason, then to at least see your way through the night. I say check ’em out and get some Deleted Scenes into your life loving ears. You’ll be better off for it. Peace. Continue reading “deleted scenes | throwback thursday”
