the st. jerome’s laneway festival detroit 2013

The end of Summer can’t get here soon enough!

My head is literally spinning. No, not from overindulgence of the mind altering sort. But, from the total euphoria which comes from good news. The year is 2013 and what a year it will be. This the inaugural year of the St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival Detroit. Yeah, Detroit! Like right down the street from me. I’m excited. The Motor City is finally getting it’s groove back, and with an international music line-up it’s sure to be one of the nation’s premiere music venues to take in this summer. Laneway Festival Detroit takes place on Sept. 14th at Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester Hills, Mich. Ticket info HERE. After the jump, check out one of the highlights that’ll be bringin’ it this year. Peace. Continue reading “the st. jerome’s laneway festival detroit 2013”

alunageorge // watching over you

for me i can’t plot the course of my affections. i know what i like, but even still sometimes pleasant surprises introduce themselves and the acquaintance is welcome. the british duo alunageorge is composed of a combination of subtle opposites working to win heads and hearts over everywhere. theirs is a sufficient, but not overdone mix, of the eclecticism of sub-pop in league with the rock steady pulse and drive of r&b. but, realistically aluna francis could possibly sing over a track with only an infant crying and i just might be equally enthused. it all pretty much began with their ‘you know you like it’ ep. shortly thereafter island records took serious note of the quaintness and potential of aunageorge and the rest is history. after the jump check out a few bits and ends and. also, head over to soundcloud for more. peace. alunageorge // your drums, your love

Right now the mood is chill. It is time to grab something that’ll settle your nerves, wine perhaps? It is the hour if unwinding and the unfurling of any and everything that may get in the way of your total relaxation. If you’re a fan of music, and I’m not speaking of the Top 40 variety (but the music which lives just beneath the underside of complicity) then you might have the alt R&B duo AlunaGeorge on your radar. And if not here’s an introduction. Check out their latest, “Your Drums, Your Love” and you’ll discover its a sweet lil’ number to vibe to. Now, how about that glass of wine, writing music reviews is thirsty work. Peace. Continue reading “alunageorge // your drums, your love”

Lana Del Rey – Born To Die (AlunaGeorge Remix)

When I listen to the AlunaGeorge’s Born To Die Remix it makes me feel like I somehow rolled up Ms. Del Rey’s sexy shadow and pouting lips and somehow smoked them, you know like one of those funny cigarettes. Now, I feel like I’m somewhere all dangled up in the forgotten prayers cluttering up the stratosphere. And those prayers are stuck up there for lack of the proper postage of faith. But me, I have all the faith in the universe in Ms. Del Rey to transcend a devout listener to a higher plane. I also believe that if you listen to this track long and hard enough, it will deliver you too. Peace. Continue reading “Lana Del Rey – Born To Die (AlunaGeorge Remix)”
