grimes // genesis (easy girl) remix

for those familiar with grimes you know just how sub-zero chill her music can be. however, when you take a track like, “genesis” and put it into the hands of dj/producer easy girl you’re in for a dark surprise. the “genesis (easy girl) remix” is a mendicant black scrim of melancholy splendidly covered by besmirched synths and “tussled with” vocals which sometimes go beautifully staccato. this one is definitely some kind of sexy. oh before i forget, it’s a free download. so get it while it lasts. peace. Grimes // Genesis Ft. Deniro Farrar (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)

There isn’t much not to like about Claire Boucher and her musical outlet/persona Grimes. TOPS // Rings Of Saturn

The more I hear of the band TOPS the more I’m inclined to want to hear more. It sounds 60’s chic with a modern anesthetic and sensibility, not so much flower child, as an reinvention of the likes of an Marianne Faithful or Gayle McCormick, but conjoined with present day 21st century modernity. Yes, it may sound a bit 60-ish, strutting around in new white knee-high boots, but it also sounds new and capable of introducing listeners to a classic sound reexamined. Both the songs “Turn Your Love Around” and “Diamond Look” are tracks from the forthcoming  full-length album Tender Opposites. You can Pre-Order via Arbutus Records a cassette format or CD. However, the cool thing about the cassette is it will have: Continue reading “tops // turn your love around”
