sheep, dog & wolf | glare | breathe

Sheep, Dog & Wolf (namely Daniel McBride) is one of those introspective lads who manage to maintain both an air of brillinacy and a sense of inventive and communicative higher-conscious musicianship. Yes, that’s doin’ a lot, but he does it to fine affect. I also want to add, that I am both dissappointed that I am just now discovreing him for the first, and I point an accusing finger at you for not pulling my shirt tail sooner. But faux accusations aside the two gems I have posted after the jump are a study in tonal perfection and eloquent composition. In short, a polyrhytmic delight bar none. The tracks Glare and Breathe were lifted from the SD&W’s debut offering Egospect out now courtesy of Lil’ Chief Records. And alas there is video too. Check out the THUNDERLIPS directed visuals and just BREATHE already. Peace. Continue reading “sheep, dog & wolf | glare | breathe”

capitol cities // safe and sound gets sirius!

The duo Capitol Cities (Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian) have been on a lot of “must listen to” lists all summer long. And if perchance you’ve been asleep at the proverbial wheel and missed out on their most excellent release Safe and Sound then after the jump check it out. But the real reason for this post is to help spread the good word about our beloved Capitol Cities. Recently the good folks of Sirius XM‘s Alt Nation have put Safe and Soundinto regular rotation and of course the fans want to keep it there. So, here’s the deal: Continue reading “capitol cities // safe and sound gets sirius!”

capital cities // nothing compares 2 u

Capital Cities (Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian) first caught my attention when the duo got their hands on Pink Floyd’s song Breathe and creatively (albeit funkily) infused Tupac Shakur into the track. It was nothing short of pure genius. Now, the party boys from The City of Angels have quickened my pulse again with another incredible cover, their better-than-Sinead-O’Connor‘s interpretation of “Nothing Compares 2 U.” And if there was any lingering doubt after their self-titled 2011 Capital Cities EP, this track solidifies Capital Cities as anything but a novel act, these guys are legit. Peace. Continue reading “capital cities // nothing compares 2 u”

Capitol Cities // Breathe (Ft. Tupac Shakur)

Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian are L.A.-based electro-pop duo Capital Cities. And although these two have been at the music thing for a minute, not since Dangermouse and his groundbreaking Grey Album, have I been so blown away by such an imaginative sonic coupling. The duos cover/remix of  Pink Floyd’sBreathe” featuring Tupac Shakur is a mash-up supreme. Also, you’re going to want to check out their incredible 2011 EP release Safe and Sound and of course I got it for you after the jump. And I know you’re gonna want your very own copy of the “Breathe” single, you can get it here. And if you’re going to make the most of the music, well you gotta get up and dance. Peace.
