widowspeak // ballad of the golden hour

Soughing through the ventricles of your heart.

Molly Hamilton and Robert Earl Thomas = Widowspeak. and how this two-person act gets such a large all-consuming sound of a duo project is beyond me. their song, “Ballad of the Golden Hour” is gorgeous beyond and it is the first release from the forthcoming album ‘Almanac‘ to be released january the 22nd 2013. I think Ms. Hamilton’s voice could melt the Hope diamond. peace. Continue reading “widowspeak // ballad of the golden hour”

naomi punk // the spell

“I am the sun/ I am the shooting star…”

sonically speaking our ears crave sound like a man flying into the sun craves sunglasses. and it is no mystery that the melodic and aurally titillating noises of northwest punk thrashers Naomi Punk somehow makes the brain swoon with joy. listening to the recently reissued debut lp ‘The Feeling’ via Captured Tracks is to experience the majesty and thrall of heavy guitar-laden artillery aimed bulls-eye perfect at your rock button (wherever that is). my favorite is track is “The Spell” and with good reason you’ll be listening to it cranked way up. peace. heavenly beat // talent (full album stream)

I was duly impressed with Heavenly Beat (John Pena) since I heard his 2011 singles 7″ Suday and Faithless, the latter being was an instant favorite of mine. Now, Heavenly Beat has put out a magnificent LP with the release of Talent. The album title isn’t as pretentious as one might imagine. It seems to be more of a declaration of self-assurance, and a recognition of growth than anything haughty. This isn’t the pounding of Mr. Pena’s hands to chest, it is simply artistic confidence (well deserved). After the break listen to entire album courtesy of Captured Tracks. And thanks Mr. Pena for including the song Faithless on this album. Thumbs up, way up! Peace. Continue reading “heavenly beat // talent (full album stream)”

heavenly beat // tradition

John Pena is the smooth like butta’ incarnation of Heavenly Beat and the lovely song, “Tradition,” just melts in your eardrum so sweetly. This song is all pastel and muted color galore. But, it is also effortless and packed to the brim the sensuous and chill. You may want to listen to a few of this bands other gorgeous tasting songs at iTunes. Desire. Messiah. Faithless. Suday. All of them totally bathed in chillwave aesthetics, and that’s a good thing. Also, Heavenly Beat will be dropping their debut album Talent on July 2th via Captured Tracks. Peace. Wild Nothing // Nowhere (Ft. Andrea Estella)

Jack Tatum obviously is a very talented troubadour, he’s got to be. Why? Well, in order to, first imagine every song, then to take all those wild imaginings, and tame them. Secondly, he lovingly sews them piece by piece into realities of pure somber sound, this takes some doing. But, I like you so appreciate his labor of love. Now, he’s at the helm and piloting Wild Nothing towards the spanking new 7″ “Nowhere” scheduled to drop February 21st via Captured Tracks. This release will also have the b-side “Wait” which will drop later. But for now, enjoy the new material and stay on your toes for a forthcoming LP due out sometime in 2102. Don’t worry I’ll keep you posted. Also, if you’re wondering who the angel is singing the lyrics, “Don’t come over, unless you want to feel something…” well wonder no more, it’s  Andrea Estella of Twin Sister. Peace.
