simian ghost // autumn slowmo (for the dejected realist) ep

If you could distill all of varying degrees of heartache and the ambiguity of doubt mixed with desire it may sound something like this.

Simian Ghost has earned a storied place in hearts and minds everywhere with their brand of heartfelt odes. SG’s songs leaves tear stains upon pillows and pepper hope within clasped hands poised in prayer. And if you desire deliverance from the ills of existence or a potent balm of distraction from mundane worries, then the band’s latest, ‘Autumn Slowmo For The Dejected Realist’ fits the bill and then some. After listening to the new 3-song EP there is little wonder why this band has gained such a faithful and adoring following. By the way, the Autumn Slowmo EP is available for free downland until January 1, 2013. Peace. Continue reading “simian ghost // autumn slowmo (for the dejected realist) ep”

Twin Cabins / / Cool Kids

“‘There are so many fragile things, after all. People break so easily, and so do dreams and hearts.”  — Neil Gaiman

Twin Cabins is San Diego-based artist Nacho Cano, and he is all about finding expression couched in the unfamiliar, and his is a music absolutely night-time beautiful. And by that I mean, his music can subsist in the light of day, yet in my humble opinion (unsolicited) it is better enjoyed, or perhaps better suited for after sundown pursuits. And even though others have boxed his style of music as Chillwave, it is vastly more than that tag suggests. The tracks “Cool Kids”and “I’m Sure” are representative of an artist who’s viewing the world outside his window with self assured, albeit rose-colored lenses. But, also his music is wistful, all the more mature, and introspective from heartbreak. Yet,he’s willing and able to jump right back into the fray. Nacho Cano is a talented artist whose optimism is not only infectious, but melodically endearing. It’s crisp and crunchy on the outside, but with a soft, all too fragile heart beating just beneath. Be on the look out for his forthcoming debut release I’m Sure coming soon. Peace. Continue reading “Twin Cabins / / Cool Kids”

Ifan Dafydd // Treehouse

Your ears know something special when they hear it, right? So, I’m thinking your ears will give this one the silent nod of approval upon hearing Ifan Dafydd and his latest instant classic “Treehouse”. This joint is so ultra-cool it seduces and makes you fall instantly in love. It was a pretty good year for Ifan Dafydd in 2011, and it will be of no surprise that he wows us all continuously in 2012. I just had to cop this one for me-self, and so can you at  iTunes. Peace. Continue reading “Ifan Dafydd // Treehouse”

Simian Ghost // Wolf Girl (Video)

I am going to approach this review of Swedish dream-Pop auteurs Simian Ghost as if you’re just hearing about them for the very first time (and that may very well be the case). Whether or not you know who Sebastian Arnström is or isn’t is irrelevant, to a point. I suppose if you only want to impress friends and acquaintances with vocabulary enough to name drop and feign hipness, then I suppose you are now sufficiently well-armed to do such a thing. But, such information is far removed, and serves little (if any) purpose in how the music will ultimately enter through the conduit of your ears and sough softly through your brain cells like a pastel colored watercourse winding its way into the deeper waters of tranquility. I bid you only this, cast ulterior motives  aside and just enjoy a thing for the sake of enjoyment. The songs created by Sebastian Arnström come armed only with an ego-less beauty and a mischievous need, not for vanity, but to bruise the soft tissue of your heart with the imprint of sweet and plaintive adoration. The forthcoming album, titled Youth, will be released on March 5th via  Heist Or Hit Records. Peace. Continue reading “Simian Ghost // Wolf Girl (Video)”

Porcelain Raft – Strange Weekend

I knew something was really special about this album. It only took a single listen, and now it’s officially in the arsenal of my collection of albums to light candles by, or put a fire in the grate and cuddle up to the special lady in my life. Mauro Remmidi is Porcelain Raft, and he has done something wonderful here with the forthcoming release Strange Weekend. The LP is a chilled out slightly ambient mixture of Pop music, melded together exotically with the sounds the universe makes when its in a romantic mood. You’ll agree after you hear Mauro Remmidi’s voice.

Look for Strange Weekend to drop January 24th on the Secretly Canadian label. If you like the sound of Porcelain Raft coming out of your speakers go ahead and Pre-Order Strange Weekend. Peace. Continue reading “Porcelain Raft – Strange Weekend”

Air Tycoon – Los Angeles

/ Waves of pliant experience lap flesh like seasoned shifts of heat // & it is all of nothing /// or something & all /// & it is the sweetest taste multiplied by lust //// /& when she arches her back skyward ////// her ecstasy vibrating whetted frequencies in dual triplicate /////// i know upon her soft descent my gratification will catch her with thankfulness & awe.

And so the sounds keeps palpitating and sensually shifting as I experience the lustness and lushness of Air Tycoon and the washed and ready fruit of the track “Los Angeles.” So much heaven it’s hell to hold. Peace. Continue reading “Air Tycoon – Los Angeles”
