First Aid Kit are sisters Johanna & Klara Söderberg. Listening to these two weave harmonies like sloshed whiskey upon the silk throats of aged and mundane ghosts of their futures selves, it is (they) a thing to be experienced, and often. These young women of phenomenal musical means have matured into such understated artists, and their first single release, “Silver Lining,” displays such skill it impresses as well as it satisfies.

First Aid Kit – The Lion’s Roar (NPR’s First Listen)

When you listen to the new LP The Lion’s Roar from the sister-duo First Aid Kit your slowly transported to an erstwhile age, or so it seems. You get the feeling of being in a country before electricity or running water, with all the rustic beauty and heartbreaks of a simpler time. Johanna and Klara Söderberg are no doubt going to have a great year and dare I say, a wonderful career. Ane Brun – Do You Remember (Live) ft. First Aid Kit

It’s always nice to find something random and wonderful. I was perusing some of my usual haunts and came upon this gem. Now, for those familiar with my blog I adore First Aid Kit to pieces, but Ane Brun I’d never heard of before just now. At any rate I will be looking for more of what this woman has to offer, musically that is. I love live music, especially when it done full to bursting with visceral energy enough to power the sun, moon and stars. This posting should come with the label, ‘Steal this song”, because upon listening you immediately want to share it with almost everyone you know. The song “Do You Remember” is something special and I don’t mean ‘short bus’ special either. Check it out. Peace.

First Aid Kit – The Lion’s Roar


I first wrote about this Swedish sister act a few months ago. I am still impressed. Actually I’m smitten. I am all the things a person can be when they are witnessing the coming of musical angels. Angels with burnished voices, voices singing the stuff of howling coyotes and liquor-sad laments. The sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg released their debut LP The Big Black and The Blue in 2010. Now, the duo is gearing up for a late January 24th release of their sophomore offering The Lion’s Roar. Below, you can listen to the title track (and a few other older songs) from the upcoming album just to whet your appetite for what the new year will ring in. Peace.
