Domo Genesis brings a bit a lighthearted frenetic energy to brush off the anticipated sun rays of a long hot summer (I hope). I am diggin’ the guitar solo, which gives the track Dapper an old school flare. You can cop this song March 25th and 11 more from Domo’s debut release GENESIS courtesy of Odd Future Records. Peace. Tunde Olaniran is about to blow! One listen to his astutely wise and bangingly badass track Namesake and you’ll my prophetic stance. This young lion hailing from Flint, Michigan flows wickedly like whitewater over Celestial Falls. This track stylistically straddles a sound somewhere between Danny Brown and Kid Cudi, but it is wholly something different and on a higher plateau. If you are looking for something clever with a sound and production profile among the best out there then cop his debut Transgressor album. Pre-Order below. Peace. Our Sunday Best: L’Orange & Kool Keith | Time? Astonishing

Hip Hop house producing underground legends Mello Music Group is slated to drop L’Orange & Kool Keith‘s album Time? Astonishing July 24th. If you’re tired of the embarrassment of what most mainstream Hip Hop isn’t then this is the remedy and the cure. L’Orange and Kool Keith shine like diamonds and come just as hard, not gangsta’ hard. No, never that, this is the hardness of truth and positivity. Good stuff. Peace. Continue reading “Our Sunday Best: L’Orange & Kool Keith | Time? Astonishing”

the hood internet   //  doin it good  +  kanye west  + daft punk + free download

Summer 2013 pretty much belongs to Daft Punk and the release of their much lauded Random Access Memories LP. Point and set. Yet, there is another artist who’ll also be remembered in the year of our lord MMXIII. Enter Mr. Kanye West and his groundbreaking Yeezus LP. And as big as the former two acts are (they’re so not acting) there is two unsung heroes of the summer (and spring, autumn and winter too).

The Chicago-based dj/producer duo known worldwide as The Hood Internet. These guys are the precious golden thread, who often conjoin the urban with the suburban, taking the grit and grime and the globally inaccessible then carefully stitching them together like Siamese dreams. But on a higher plateau The Hood Internet perform a greater service, as global ambassadors: bridging cultures and gettin’ the party started. They rock the rural and roll the sublime, blending them into a potent tonic poured over sub-zero and multifaceted crushed ice. It’s a hard concept to understand without experiencing it firsthand or in this case firstear.

If you missed it then you’re in for a treat, as you listen to the superlative mash-up. The “Doin It Good,” remix takes the Hip-Hop fun of Kanye’s Good Life and marries it to the effortless euphoria of Daft Punk’s Doin’ It Right. This is an “all day everyday” anthem. Also, peep The Hood Internet’s The Mixtape Volume Seven. It is jammed packed with goodies and hoodies. Peace. shabazz palaces // an echo from the hosts that profess infinitum + official music video

Just ahead of Shabazz Palaces‘ soon to launch tour of Asia. Seattle, WA-based avant garde Hip Hop torch bearers release the video for An Echo from the Hosts that Profess Infinitum, better later than never-ish, right? The  video was directed by Joris Grelet, and features molotov cocktails and sword wielding assassins. The video comes nearly two years after the release of 2011’s Black Up from which the track is taken. The duo, Palaceer Lazaro and Tendai Maraire, are hopefully in the lab putting together new material. We can only hope. Also, after the jump check out the recent Shabazz Palaces Remix of Animal Collective‘s New Town Burnout. Peace.  Continue reading “shabazz palaces // an echo from the hosts that profess infinitum + official music video”

our sunday best: anaye ☿♥ pu$$y palace ☿♥

Juicy hardcore cuties…

anaye | pu$$y palace

When is the last time you heard a fresh out the box socially conscious female Hip Hop Rap duo dropping it sickly out of Stockholm, Sweden? That’s what I thought. Anywho, check out the female MC’s Anaye (MayDar & Beastie). Their brand new debut offering is the salacious Pu$$y Palace EP and frankly feminism never sounded so fly. I’m lovin’ ’em from head to toe. My fav track is Bad Wolf feat. Moa. Oh! How it rocks! Put these rhymes on repeat. Peace. Continue reading “our sunday best: anaye ☿♥ pu$$y palace ☿♥”
