Hot Chip is well known for conjuring up inventive and highly dance worthy musical fare. And let’s be honest its been a minute since the boys from London graced our ears with a beat or two. Well wait no more with a new album underway there is hope yet the summer isn’t going to be a total wash. Below take a listen and sing along to Burning Up the new single lifted from Hot Chip’s forthcoming Why Make Sense? I love this song because is has a chill manner like my cat Reginald but I don’t have to empty the litter box. Yes, I am weird but this song definitely isn’t. Welcome back Mr. Goddard. Peace. outfit // i want what’s best

outfit // i want what’s best

Young Brits idolize Eno and Hot Chip; make a foggy-eyed summer jam. That’s the story behind Outfit’s I Want What’s Best – a simple-sounding exercise that actually flowers into a textured, danceable mountain.

Double Denim Records released their debut single Two Islands / Vehicles and followed it up with the release of ‘A.N.D.R.E.A’ in May 2012, a four track E.P that documented their outlook of life in the capital. Produced by the band themselves, Outfit combined live instrumentation with heavily processed samples, manipulating everyday noises and field recordings. Their methods were inspired not only by creative desires but also by the limitations of their studio, exploring necessity as a creative tool. Painting a world that’s as beautiful as it is dystopian, as hopeful as it is uncertain, Outfit’s soon-to-come debut album Performance is a step into the glorious unknown, it drops August 12, 2013. Peace.

Joe Goddard // Gabriel EP

Joe Goddard, bka Ulysses and fellow Hot Chip accomplice is a force to be reckoned with on so many levels. Let’s see, he’s a more than capable vocalist, a maestro of the synths and syncopated beats. No doubt, his is a world in which making timeless music is not just a means to an end, it is perhaps life-sustaining. I’m revisiting his August 2011 Gabriel EP for good reason, it transcends this-worldly plain and delivers you right into the arms of seventh heaven. The title-track, “Gabriel” (Ft. Valentina) and “All I Know” are 14 minutes  57 seconds of unadulterated bliss. This is music that nourishes the soul. And you know I just had to provide the optics for you enjoyment too.  See and hear it all after the jump. Peace. Continue reading “Joe Goddard // Gabriel EP”
