Moon Boots – Aretha EP

Alright, time to shed your workaday clothes, put on your party duds, and shake something. And you better believe I got the music for the occasion. Newly ordained DJ Moon Boots is serving it up hot and heavy with his latest stupefying Aretha EP, check it out. I also included the equally danceable track “Off My Mind.” We haven’t heard much from this newly sentient mixologist, but so far, so good. But best believe our antenna are now readjusted, and awaiting your next groove transmission. Peace. Continue reading “Moon Boots – Aretha EP”

Nervo – We’re All No One (Video)

Lest we forget to breath. Lest we forget to smile. Lest we forget to live. Alas, dance!

Dance! Are you at your most sexy and uninhibited self today? No? Without a doubt Nervo bka Mim & Liv can help you get a “leg up” on the dance floor, i.e. bedroom, dorm room or sidewalk. It don’t matter as long as you shake dat Boo-tay! Without question the Nervo twins were big in 2010-11 and in 2012 you’ll be seeing, and hearing, a lot more of Nervo. Nothing bad about that, at all. To date Nervo is lending some “help a girl out” magic to Madonna. Plus, Nichole Scherzinger‘s forthcoming joint has been fondled by the ladies from Down Under. And of course the duo provided the electric-fingered foreplay for the Nicki Minaj and Britney Spears Femme Fatale tour over the summer. So, get up. Do some pre-dance stretching and crank “We’re All No One” to the damn sky? Peace. Continue reading “Nervo – We’re All No One (Video)”

trevor and ever | back yard funk

Something about a slinky cat-eyed bass-line that makes me want to get lost in the groove. Trevor And Ever pumps heavy-lidded bass lines into your veins via music so much more effective than a spike ever could. The beats permeate your pores and rush into the chambers of your heart so seductively and before you realize it, you’re hooked! Their Backyard Funk EP was released in 2010 and it still packs quite a wallop. Also, Check out the track “Take Time (Tear It Down)”, it’s a banger. As a bonus, for all of you Michael Jackson fans (closet and non-closeted alike) I’ve included the track I’ll Be There off of their 2011 EP release New Gradience. Over and out. Peace. Modeselektor – (ft. Thom Yorke)

Modeselektor ft. Thom Yorke

Anyone who really knows moi is aware of my affinity for all things Radiohead in general, and my particular admiration for the genius that is Thom Yorke. So, when it was announced that Modeselektor would be featuring Thom Yorke on a few songs on its forthcoming album Monkeytown I was nonetheless elated. So, check out these two leaked gems, “Shipwreck” and “This”. True, Modeselektor is a force even without the added vocals of Mr. Yorke, but combining the two together makes for some pretty potent electric mojo. This only adds fuel to the fire that is my anticipation for the full length album. Hurry up already. Peace.

Here’s a run down on the tracklist:

Cavaliers of Fun – Sharing Space Secrets

Cavaliers of Fun - Sharing Space Secrets

The universe created music for every conceivable situation, right? Right now I feeling pretty chill and so to soundtrack this particular mood I am playing one man band Cavaliers of Fun . I like the spacey sound, and I am set adrift upon rifts of intergalactic beats pelting my eardrums like cotton candy asteroids. You get the idea. The Sharing Space Secrets EP is the perfect little sound pill for whatever ails you. Thank you Ricco Vitali. Peace.

L-Vis 1990 – Lost in Love

L-Vis 1990

The debut album of L-Vis 1990 steps out of the history of house music. The album Neon Dreams is the next evolutionary step forward.  How so? Because it doesn’t merely  mimic what has already been done before, instead it pushes house music further into an elevated state of being. Neon Dreams is more than just music to dance to, it is music to chill to as well. It comes at you in various tempos, and wears the garb of different moods. The opening track “Lost In Love” is sung by Corey Black and sets up the tone of the album perfectly. Listeners will get a taste of the various flavors of house music: past, future, and present. A helpful hint, toss out any preconceived notions and just listen. Let Neon Dreams take you there. Peace.

nicolas jaar // john the revelator

Often enough house music is too formulaic and predictable. Not so with Nicolas Jaar, and for that reason alone he is worth listening to. Mr. Jaar isn’t afraid to push the envelope and infuse his style of house music with various world influences. John the Revelator isn’t for the typical house music purist, whatever the hell that means. But it is for anyone who doesn’t like their music pre-packaged and over processed. So, light a candle, have a glass of whatever elixir suits your fancy, and simply chill. Also, check out Nicolas Jaar’s label Clown & Sunset on Facebook for more exemplar musical fare. Peace.
