Bilby and Cuckoos are both Australian artists and they have released an affectionate and admirable 3-track EP. According to a press release Bilby (Harry Moxham) hails from the beaches of Northern Sydney, and he makes his style of lo-fi folk-pop from the comfort and confines of his bedroom. So, maybe that’s the reason the songs he produces sound so intimate, with the frailty of weather-worn and honest confession. The artist Cuckoos aka Sam Wotherspoon makes his contribution with the track Strange Daze, it’s a slow dirge wrapped in wispy sensuousness; the foggy outskirts of a forlorn heart. British producer Stuart Howard is Lapalux. This 25-year old producer proliferates his tracks with a resplendent blend of sonic characteristics: R&B, Hip Hop and House. Yet, it all comes together without sounding overdone or cloying. The end result comes together nicely like the Upper and Lower Nile. His latest single release, “Guuurl” is one of twelve songs from his forthcoming LP ‘Nostalchic‘. Alcoholic Faith Mission / / Into Pieces

Alcoholic Faith Mission is a band I first began listening to a few years ago, and I’m always ready to sing, I mean, write their praises. This Danish sextet dropped their dropped their new album Ask Me This back in January and I want you to want it too. Dum Dum Girls – Bedroom Eyes

Dum Dum Girls

There are many reasons why I like the Dum Dum Girls. What’s the main reason? I can’t get enough of the sultry vibrato provided by lead-singer Kristen Gundred, aka as Dee Dee Penny or just Dee Dee for short. The California band fist caught my attention in 2010 with the release of their debut album I Will Be. Then in 2011 DDG dropped a followup EP featuring the songs He Gets Me High and the dreamy There Is a Light That Never Goes Out by legendary alternative U.K. band The Smiths. Although most reviewers allude Blondie as an influence, I hear more than a hint of Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. Also, if your love Dee Dee check out super band Zodiacs you will not be disappointed. By the way, the latest Dum Dum Girls album Only In Dreams was released September 27th. Peace.
