Embeds allowing bloggers to easily embed videos from Distrify. Just go to any Distrify film page or player and copy the URL. Paste that URL in any WordPress blog and it will automatically be converted to an embedded Distrify player. If you are logged in to distrify.com it will automatically add your affiliate tracking code to your embeds. Make sure you turn on Auto-embeds in your WP settings and also make sure that the URL is on its own line and not hyperlinked (clickable when viewing the post). The plugin also extracts the still image from the film and saves it as the Featured Image for the post. This actually works for any Embed (not just Distrify) that you embed into your WordPress blog. Basecamp the Nashville, TN trio that’s been on a tear for a few years now (Watch My Back, Smoke Filled Lungs, Shudder). The band’s latest release the Greater Than EP is six tracks of exactly why we love these guys. The fourth track on the EP Esc gets the remix treatment with Esc (Swindail Remix) and the Esc (josh pan & X&G Remix). I can’t decide which version I like the bestest. Maybe you can help me decide? Peace.

Esc: Lyrics

You stopped
Dead in your tracks
A ghost from the past
Had come back to play
To fuck up your day
But
You spot an exit
A door standing red lit
You leave it to chance
But you’re worried ‘cuz you’d rather go up than down
You never like to hear the sound
She makes
You’d rather go up than down
But she’s still gonna give and you’re still gonna take it
Yeah, you’re still gonna take it now

It’ll all be better when the clock runs out
(Say it til it’s true)
(Say it til it’s true)
But I don’t want to feel what I felt when I fell back down
(Nothing you could do)
(Nothing you could do)
I could smell the smoke
But could not see the flames
Never thought we’d choke
But I had forgot your name
In the dark
All the wounds we had opened
Seemed more like a reason to bury the pain
And the fork
In the paths we had chosen
Had made it too easy to open gate

And I know
The deeper it goes
The deeper it goes
The more it unfolds
I get further from ever getting far away

The deeper it goes
The deeper it goes
The lies that were told
I get lost in the storm of the hell I made

The deeper it goes
The deeper it goes
The more it unfolds
I get further from ever getting far away

The deeper it goes
The deeper it goes
The lies that were told
I get lost in the storm of the hell I made.

Philadelphia indie garage rockers Hop Along gives us a beyond ample excuse to revisit 2012. It was a quaint little album titled Get Disowned and an even obscurer foursome bearing the appellation Hop Along. Seems unassuming enough, except not. Now all would have been well and fine, and the band may well have enjoyed the small unknown existence some bands woefully aspire to be. You know the whole suffering for one’s art thing. Masochistic yes, but it’s a thing. But there was one damn problem, a foible in the plan christened Frances Quinlan. Damn her. If only she’d kept her lovely soundtracked mouth shut and her seductively warped vocals to her damn self we would have all been better off. But alas she didn’t and we’re not. We’re not because I for one can’t get enough of her rustic rock delivery, which make her beautiful pained lyrics all the more so. And, if we’re honest with ourselves it was very specifically the track Tibetan Pop Stars. It was this song, with it’s acrimonious lyrics and paranormal voiced passion. It undone us. You fuckers. I fell in love with an off kilter and highly sentimental ode to heartbreak and enmity. And so yes, Hop Along’s release Get Disowned is a no-brainer for an apt Throwback Thursday nod, and may I suggest you replay all damn day? Thanks Frances. Psst! I also included Hop Along’s wonderful follow up release, Painted Shut (2015).Peace.

Tibetan Pop Stars: Lyrics

How content are with ones with simple demands? They meet their fiancés cherry picking out in Canada.
While cursing the river, a seven fingered man, his three sleepless wives all equally sick of him.

Honey I left to see some action. What’s with all these swamps? All I’m passing are hospitals and space-camps. Nobody is asking me “What about your other?” If they did I’d tell them you’re a

Stanger in India
I’m gonna be creepin’ on you so hard

Nobody deserves you the way that I do.

Come home my stranger in India because waiting on you is too hard. The reason I haven’t written back is because I’m still doing all that bad sh** I was.

My love is average. I obey an average law.

Watch My Back: Lyrics

Sweet as our slumber
Sharp like an axe
Can you remember?
How good what we had

You can’t tell me you don’t mean to
And I can’t act like this is right
The game we play has gotten oh so see through
At the end of the day, what’s one more night?

So, I watch my back, whenever you are not in my front
Brace for attack, ’cause I never really know what you want

But when the lights go down
It’s a torture that I cannot resist
I should turn around, I suppose I could stay if you insist, oh

Goes fast I’m falling
And he leaves like a ghost
So lonely, so haunting
My poisonous host

You can’t tell me you don’t love it
and I’d be lying if I said I mind
I could pretend that I am above it
At the end of the day, what’s one more time

So, I watch my back, whenever you are not in my front
Brace for attack, ’cause I never really know what you want

But when the lights go down
It’s a torture that I cannot resist
I should turn around, I suppose I could stay if you insist, oh

I can play your fool, it’s such a small price to pay
Let me break your rules, I promise you won’t complain
I can play your fool, it’s such a small price to pay
Let me break your rules, I promise you won’t complain

But I watch my back, whenever you are not in my front
Brace for attack, ’cause I never really know what you want
But when the lights go down
It’s a torture that I cannot resist
I should turn around, I suppose I could stay if you insist

Oh, ooh oh oh oh
Oh, ooh oh oh oh
Oh, ooh oh oh oh
Oh, ooh oh oh oh

South Londoner Shivum Sharma lays it on thick with melancholy and introspection wrapped up in sensuous synths and sweet like sugar vocals. The song After All These Years bleeds from the heart and we love every once of it.

The After All These Years EP was produced by Liam Howe (FKA Twigs, Tom Vek). The new collection of songs is the intimate sound of Shivum Sharma evolving his delicate (melismatic infused technique intact) falsetto accompanied with lucid electro-kissed neo soulful R&B. Basically, all the delicate texture that made him an instant blog darling earlier this year.

My fav is still his heart breaking track Flicker taken from his debut Flicker EP released earlier in 2014.

The title track is out now and look for the After All These Years EP to drop December 8th courtesy National Anthem. Peace.

Oh the cream has definitely risen to the top.

Detroit native Black Milk needs not an introduction. No herald nor entourage either is required to create a sense of presence or permanence. All this very capable emcee needs to do is to man his electrified equipment and open his mouth to that other dimension and flow freely.

And on his latest album If There’s A Hell Below what is most poignant is what is absent and accounted for. Take a bow kind sir for allowing your mere mortal self to delineate from the commercial (as you always have) and center yourself in the eye of the storm. I so wish I could offer for your listening pleasure the track Grey for Summer or the unselfish majesty of No Poison, No Paradise. And Lord please don’t get me started on Hell Below for it transcends and elevates much like spliff smoke billowing from the temple-like nostrils of Jah himself.

For heads wanting to take such an imaginative journey into that other place were sound is the only substantive matter then purchase the stamped Black Milk ticket and get your transcendental groove on. Peace.

Pablo Nutini will not be denied entry into your heart. And let’s face it this man is destined to settle into the soft tissue of your brain matter like a thorny crucible. So when the needle drops and the song Let Me Down Easy starts to play make sure you have some Cognac (or some other heavy hitting elixir) close at hand to steady your nerves.

The song is lifted from the stellar release Caustic Love album out now via Warner Music. And if by chance your hands aren’t shaking too much by the records end call me on the phone and say thank you. Peace.

Lyrics:

Let me down easy
Though your love for me is gone
Let me down easy
Since you feel that staying is wrong?

We are broken by others
But we mend ourselves
We take comfort in strangers
But I don’t think it helps
If every fool were a clown
I would be a king and not a clown
Cause love can’t?
Closer than our hands and our feet

But it’s lost on me
Oh oh
It’s lost on me
Your love for me is wrong
Let me down easy
since you feel that staying is wrong?
There was no sweeter fruit than this
With no taste of bitterness
It was so fresh and sweet before
But I can’t taste it anymore

I was like a man with no candy?
I had everything
But as long as?

Your love for me is wrong
Let me down easy
Your love for me is gone
Let me down easy
Since you feel that staying is wrong?

On a better day
we’d be waiting on our corner
Selling dreams of redemption
But this time you’ve gone your way
So I’ll go mine
Out of sight, out of love, out of time

Your love for me is wrong
Let me down easy
Your love for me is gone
Let me down easy
Since you feel that staying is wrong?

Let me down easy
