the perks of being a wallflower // soundtrack

a good rock solid soundtrack is the equivalent of having a rock-steady go-to collection of songs to heighten an evening of seduction, sort of. at any rate the summit entertainment film the perks of being a wallflower, directed by and based on the best-selling book by stephen chbosky, has put together a coterie of sounds which lift the film beyond its coming of age storyline. and much like 15-year-old charlie, the movies central character, songs like xtc‘s “dear god” and the cocteau twin‘s “pearly dewdrops’drop” represent the maligned and unseen. so, in a lot of ways the music becomes a character itself, representing the mostly ignored and misunderstood youth of yesteryear and today. good stuff for sure, and for some a pleasant stroll down memory lane. peace. Brothertiger / / Lovers

John Jagos is most definitely Brothertiger. And the music, well it speaks for itself. With the release of his latest LP Golden Years out now, Brothertiger is setting himself up nicely for a stellar 2012. Check out the track, “Lovers” and you’ll hear the reason for my heart-on-the sleeve enthusiasm for this Toledo, Ohio native. And if you need further inducement to fall head over heels, listen to BT‘s  cover of The Smiths old school classic “Ask” it’ll kiss you right on your sweet spot,  Hush! You know where it is.
