TEEN is a band manned with four future UN ambassadors for the of Island Fun! And while this may (or may not) be entirely a truism it rings as such. Teeny Lieberson and company have spun out (through not fault of their own) yet another wonderfully jollified diversion. The music this band puts out is multi-useful too. Say you’re one to worry about such mundane things as so-in-so liking you or the overdue mortgage. Well, this is the album you most assuredly need to drop the needle on muy pronto! And just so you know this album pairs incredibly well with a pint or two (ice cream or beer, your choice). The album Love Yes is out right this very moment via Carpark Records. Peace. wolf colony | unmasked

Wolf Colony is one of those best kept secrets that’s hard not to share. WC isn’t widely known and that’s both okay and quite the conundrum. But as long as this anonymous NYC artist keeps meting out obscurely gorgeous sounds gems like Beauty and Brown Eyes then I’m good. Both tracks are taken from the Unmasked release which dropped earlier this year. I have included the Beauty lyrics below and the vid for Brown Eyes after the jump. Enjoy. Peace. things we like: people’s climate march

If by chance you haven’t heard about the much ado about something that is the People’s Climate March going on today in NYC then allow me to pull your virtual shirttails.

What is the People’s Climate March? It is 100+ world leaders gathered in NYC. 2808 solidarity events in 166 countries. The largest climate march in history. Yes, that pretty much sums it up. But, it is also so much more. The success of today will only matter if we as individuals chose to have an impact and follow through with enduring and far reaching meaningful action. On a local and very personal level what can you do to guarantee change?

We know our environment: the ground beneath our collective feet and the air we breath are under assault. Our oceans and every other waterway are not up to snuff and are taking a beating. Melting ice caps, rising sea levels and wonky weather, all of these effects are propelled by and large negative human impact on the environment. We are at a very literal tipping point, whereas our actions and non-actions can either propel us into a better future or a very real and quality of life altering catastrophe. Tune in for life and let’s make a difference. Peace.

denitia and sene | divided | official video

.

Smooth like smoke from the tip of a Cuban cigar, and as sensuous as morning love, electro-soul duo Denitia & Sene not only exude sexy through their music, they invent it. The Brooklyn-based musicians came together a year ago with a shared vision to bring truth and ingenuity to stylistic music, and they’ve held their ambitions high ever since. Simple. Rare. Sumptuous. Bold.

They’ve been influenced by a range of sonic proclivities. Thus, their work is distinguished not by genre, but attention to free verse, and the magic that transpires between darkness and light. It’s film noir for audiophiles – chic, hip and alluring – and together, they have broken down personal limits to forge a bond surpassing all expectations.

With their latest single, “Divided,” listeners are treated once again to a sensuous sound morsel which only serves to whet our collective appetites for so much more. And we also get plenty more, for there are optics too. The official Divided video puts clothes upon the lyrics and music. But, it not only reveals more artistically it imprints fantasy and ecstasy inside where the our hearts beat.

In case you missed the duos previous 5-track Blah Blah Blah EP click HERE. Also, while I have your full and undivided attention go check out the nude (mssl cmmnd remix).

You can get the single Divided on iTunes. I got mine, for dear reader I couldn’t resist. Peace.

the other guys | blow my mind | official video

An Original but better. Mind blown.

The track is one of 13 from their upcoming HiPNOTT Records debut album titled Seeds of Ambition. Production credit by The Other Guys. selebrities /// lovely things lp

The NYC band Selebritites are just good to have around just in case you need something to smile about.

selebrities /// lovely things lp

Brooklyn’s Selebrities return with their anticipated second album, Lovely Things. Known for their ability to capture the sound of an optimistic and neon splashed New York, the band shows a softer, subtler side to their songwriting with the new material. Tracks like Found and Fell to Earth are pensive musings on the impact of relationships, whereas Temporary Touch and I Could Change are bouncier-style jams that Selebs’ fans adore.

The Lovely Things LP is a mature and finely-tuned affair from an act that travels confidently in their own lane. Peace.

teen // carolina

Taking in the new video by NYC-based TEEN is like shooting rainbows and moonshine into your eyeballs. Not that I know this little metaphorical referential tidbit from personal experience but who cares. What’s important is the psych-rock driven Carolina is deliciously good, and the video gives any viewer reason to smile a dreamy smile. By the way, the track is taken from the band’s Carolina EP available now via Carpark Records. Peace. Continue reading “teen // carolina”
