You Won’t – Three Car Garage
I’m no hippie, well maybe I am in spirit. But needless to say I didn’t come of age in the 60’s. However, I do know who Simon & Garfunkel were. The songs of Massachusetts band You Won’t remind me of S&G and the general carefree vibe that was oft associated with the Flower Power era. The song “Three Car Garage” is a bonafide keeper and although this song has been out for a lil’ bit it will be a mainstay on my playlist. Enjoy. Peace.
Mazzy Star – Common Burn
Somethings only get better with time, and one of those things right now is Hope Sandoval‘s voice. It’s been 15-years since the incarnation known as Mazzy Star last released new music, but I suppose better late than never, right? Check out the A-side track “Common Burn” below. Expect the LP to drop on October 31st on Hope Sandoval’s label Ryhmes Of An Hour. Peace.

chromatics // kill for love (officail video)
The Chromatics create sensual electro-pop deeply steeped in post-New Order atmospherics. As a testament to the longevity of their sound, and a growing fan base their song “Tick Of The Clock” made the line-up on the Drive Soundtrack way back in the day. The album Night Drive debuted back in 2007 and still it holds it’s own against any electro-pop music today. The Chromatics are scheduled to drop the Kill For Love LP early next year (January?). Until then we’ve got the Alberto Rossini directed video for the Eurodisco single “Kill For Love” below. The video has a very retro look which I’m totally diggin’. When lead-singer Ruth Radelet starts “Kill For Love” off by saying, “Everybody’s got a secret to hide…” her voice makes me want to confess my latest secret, I love this song. Kate Bush – Wildman
It’s been well over a decade and change since we’ve been blessed with something new from the incomparable Kate Bush. Ms. Bush set the standard for the eclectic chanteuse way back in the day. Now with the coming release of her forthcoming LP 50 Words For Snow the music world is a twitter (literally) with excitement. Check out the single “Wild Man” and you can easily hear that she still has the ability to stretch out into new and exciting realms. I’ve waited too long for this and finally my life is complete. You can pre-order the new album at her Fish People site. The single “Wild Man” is out now and the album release will drop November 21st. Peace.

I clicked it. I like the deluge of electrified & sun dappled apple blossoms thrown into my face, dripping sweet sap into my eardrums relentlessly. It’s Robot Koch doing his damn thing. If you’re in need of something quirky and sonically imbued with mystical beats, beats that don’t have the good sense to stop before overloading you with undistilled glee. And if you need such a thing in your life then Robot Koch (that name is tickling me) has your name stenciled all over it. Check out his latest LP offering The Other Side, then go and investigate his previous lambs to slaughter: namely the albums Death Star Droid and Songs For Trees and Cyborgs will leave rug burns on delicate places, but you won’t mind at all. Spanish Prisoners – Gold Fools
Haven’t I been good to you? Here’s another gem from newly discovered (at least to me) Spanish Prisoners. I don’t know what’s up with the water in Brooklyn, New York. But ya’ll keep drinking it if it means there is more to come from Spanish Prisoners. From the opener “Los Angeles Guitar Dream” all the way to the closer “Downtown Chicagoland” this is one hell of an album. Plus, you really can’t beat the name your price for the 9-tracks. Wild Vibes – Zolpidem Lovesick EP
A good way to feel better without intoxicants is by listening to some upbeat music. The New York band Wild Vibes is music that’ll make your synapses smile their bestest smile. I’ll describe their sound as electronic alt rock. Listen to two of the songs, “Molly” and “Don’t Stop” off of their 5-song Zolpidem Lovesick EP. Both songs will infuse your central nervous system with something akin to effervescence. And really, who doesn’t need a little effervescence in their life?
