Plugin Name: Distrify Embed
Plugin URI: http://support.distrify.com/customer/portal/articles/264106-how-do-i-embed-on-a-wordpress-blog-
Description: Extends WordPress's Embeds allowing bloggers to easily embed videos from Distrify. Just go to any Distrify film page or player and copy the URL. Paste that URL in any WordPress blog and it will automatically be converted to an embedded Distrify player. If you are logged in to distrify.com it will automatically add your affiliate tracking code to your embeds. Make sure you turn on Auto-embeds in your WP settings and also make sure that the URL is on its own line and not hyperlinked (clickable when viewing the post). The plugin also extracts the still image from the film and saves it as the Featured Image for the post. This actually works for any Embed (not just Distrify) that you embed into your WordPress blog.

I reviewed Brooklyn band Friends back in September, now their single “I’m His Girl” has a visual to go along with the audio. I loved it then, but I enjoy it a whole lot more now. Love the funky throwback post disco/ early 80’s hip-hop vibe. Gotta’ run, I’m watching the video again. I’m trying to burn frontwoman’s Samantha Urbani image into my retinas, no lie. Enjoy. Peace.
Admittedly, there is a lot of bands out there, some good, some bad and some…eh! Then there are bands who somehow rise to the top. Or maybe its just by blind luck that a certain ratio of individuals are brought together by chance and then assemble into something as wunderschön as Grooms. It took some doing, but this machine purrs. Emily Ambruso , Travis Johnson and Jim Sykes make this a trio to remember. Listen to “3D Voices” taken form their Prom EP. Its all there, the dreamy voice, seductive bass, and guitar work imbued with mounting distortion right up to the final cosmic crescendo; then you want sex. Or something to eat, maybe both. Check out the tracks below. Peace.
Were friends? Good, then we can talk honestly and openly regarding delicate topics. The fact is Coldplay is changing. They’re evolving into something new, exciting and different. Without a doubt they’re still Coldplay, but more expansive and unafraid to take risks for the sake of the music. I like that in a band, don’t you? Although I am nostalgic for the days of Parachutes and A Rush Of Blood To The Head I cannot ignore the fact that I still enjoy listening to Berryman/Buckland/Champion/Martin create music. The first release, “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall” was evidence enough, then came “Paradise”, which is still stuck in my throat. Now, the third single has thrown me for a loop. With “Princess of China” you get more of a sense the boys of Coldplay are fearless and unafraid , and that Brian Eno is whispering raucous sweet nothings in their collective ear. But if what I’ve heard already is any indication of what to expect in the future then I can’t wait to hear more. And besides, what better way to illicit buzz than for an alternative band to enlist the stunning and vocally provocative Rihanna to lend a helping hand? The new album Mylo Xyloto drops October 23rd, and so far so good. Change is indeed a good thing. Long live Coldplay! Peace.
I think we can all agree that there is nothing wrong with consistency, right? When you look back (and listen) to the catalog of M83 needless to say its pretty impressive. Continue reading “M83 – Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming”
I get real touchy when folks try to mess with the music of my favorite band. So, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the Radiohead TKOL 1234567 Remix, and I actually love it (well, most of it). Here’s the thing though, this retooling of Radiohead’s music has more highlights than lowlights because it was reworked by DJs who I admire and/or listen to (and who know what the hell their doing). Maybe that’s why it turned out so well. Who knows? Right out the gate the album opens with a stunner; with Caribou laying down hypnotic beats and a tingling piano/harp thingy on “Little By Little”. From across the pond we have UK supa’ producer Lone turning “Feral” inside out and sprinkling space dust on the remains. Then there is Pearson Sound/Ramadanman creating something salacious and utterly wicked with his take on “Morning Mr Magpie”. I also have to give an honorable mention to Four Tet‘s lush mutant clone of “Separator”, which I can’t seem to stop listening to. All in all there are no duds here, but like most LPs you like what you like. Also, you can preview the entire album at Radiohead‘s webpage.
And make sure you check out Thom Yorke spinning at the Boiler Room, this was a live feed for the October 3rd premiere of Radiohead’s TKOL RMX 1234567 release.
Erykah Badu is one of those genre pushing artist who consistently keeps us guessing. However, regardless of the subject matter of her tomes she’s always a constant flow of positive, albeit provocative energy. With every release it is apparent; Baduism is alive and well. And Erykah’s “Out Of My Mind, Just In Time (Second Movement)” is a testament to her ability to tackle taboo issues. “Out of My Mind” is an ode to love and all it’s s frenetic permutations. The song, Out Of My Mind, Just In Time is taken from Erykah Badu’s latest LP New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh and it is a lofty effort. In it’s original form the track clocks in at just over 10-minutes. However, the videos represent a reworking of the song into two parts; the 1st aired back in May and the 2nd Movement is presented below. Erica Abi Wright aka Erykah Badu, you are always entertaining and such a pleasure upon the eyes as well. Peace.
When I listen to Library Voices I hear how I imagine an iced cold glass of sweet-tart lemonade would sound like. Odd analogy I know but an apt one I hope. Summer may be over but that doesn’t mean you can’t listen to bright sunny music. From beginning to end this LP is vibrant and refreshing in a slightly electric-rockabilly sort of way. Check out the tracks “The Prime Minister’s Daughter, Generation Handclap”, and the video for “Traveller’s Digest”. So, if you like your indie-pop served up with wit and charm then the septet from Regina, Saskatchewan is perfect for you. Check it out. Oh yeah, that’ll be .25¢ for the lemonade reference. Peace.
I first wrote about this Swedish sister act a few months ago. I am still impressed. Actually I’m smitten. I am all the things a person can be when they are witnessing the coming of musical angels. Angels with burnished voices, voices singing the stuff of howling coyotes and liquor-sad laments. The sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg released their debut LP The Big Black and The Blue in 2010. Now, the duo is gearing up for a late January 24th release of their sophomore offering The Lion’s Roar. Below, you can listen to the title track (and a few other older songs) from the upcoming album just to whet your appetite for what the new year will ring in. Peace.
Rap is constantly in need of revamping itself, of reinventing what was into something new. If not refreshing, then real, naked and weird. Rap needed to shed the accoutrements of materialism and pettiness, and stare into the mirror of reality. Enter Childish Gambino. I ain’t going into a long winded bio, if you know you know, and if you don’t you should. Check out the demo “All The Shine”. Here, you get the honesty without bravado, you get rap without ugliness or idiocy. Nothing childish about CG’s word craft. I am eagerly awaiting the debut Camp LP set for release November 15th via Glasstone Records. Peace.
