Noah & The MegaFauna // On And On

The band Noah & The MegaFauna best described themselves as, “Equal parts meditation on Gypsy Jazz, and modern song writing and an excuse to stay up late drinking with friends.” And really that is the point of the music. Yes, don’t look too deeply for hidden meaning and esoteric riddles, it’s just sweet swooning music. Check out the bands’ song “On And On” and it’ll just make you miss your lover even if they’re deeply ensconced within your arms. Right now you can get the vinyl pressing of their romantically sensuous album Anthems For A Stateless Nation at www.bigcartel.com. Peace. Continue reading “Noah & The MegaFauna // On And On”

The Knocks // Learn To Fly

Ben “DJ B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson are NYC’s The Knocks and what they offer is cluby bubbly musical fare that is tantamount to a bit of fairy dust in your bloodstream. Yes, my metaphors and analogies are corny at times but oh so apt. However, The Knock’s song, “Learn To Fly” is expansive like the space-time continuum shot through with kaleidoscopic bejeweled colors . But your hands together and thank your lucky stars for this one. Peace. Continue reading “The Knocks // Learn To Fly”

superhumanoids | too young for love

Pop open a chilled bottle of Parigot & Richard Crémant de Bourgogne for this one, and order some good take-out Chinese. The Los Angeles-based group Superhumanoids have a new song, “Too Young For Love” and everything SHnoids are known for; sensuously lush synths, earth angel lyrics, and this time out the sexy vocals of Sarah Chernoff. Yeah, it’s the good stuff from the quartets forthcoming new album EXHIBITIONISTS. I definitely raise my glass to this one. Peace. Continue reading “superhumanoids | too young for love”

Howth // Wind Blows Cold

The band Howth sounds good. The music this five-piece band of friends create is warm and tasty to the ears like artisan fresh baked bread is to the palette. And like the aforementioned bread their music rises and transcends mere sustenance, the music is hymns for out souls. The song “Wind Blow Cold” is taken from the band’s Newkirk release. Peace. Meiko // Leave The Lights On (The Crystal Method Remix)

The artist known only as Meiko has a little big song titled “Leaves The Lights On” and it’s been remixed into a sleeker and slinkier affair by none other than The Crystal Method. However, and not keeping with the song’s theme I think it is apt to keep this song playing with the lights off and do your own version of dirty dancing with some lucky someone. “Leave the Lights On” from Meiko‘s forthcoming album The Bright Side scheduled to drop May 15th. Peace. Continue reading “Meiko // Leave The Lights On (The Crystal Method Remix)”

Face + Heel // Dragging Your Chains

Sinead McMillan + Luke Taylor = Face + Heel and what they do with sound warrants further intimate investigation. Here we have their hauntingly sensuous track “Dragging Your Chains” and it makes me just want to melt. The duo are feverishly working on their next EP on the newly minted London-based label WARM, and personally I just can’t wait. By the by, you can download the track ‘Dragging Your Chains’ exclusively right here. Peace.  Continue reading “Face + Heel // Dragging Your Chains”

Kanye West // Lost In The World (Official Video)

The perfect director can make one hell of a difference, taking your song and visually transcending every expectation. Ruth Hogben has done that and more with Rap icon extraordinaire/visionary Mr. Kanye West’s track “Lost In The World”. This is a wonderfully shot video not atypical of what we expect from the world of hip hop and it’s totally refreshing as it is fresh to death. Peace. Bright Moments // Natives (Our Sunday Best)

Kelly Pratt is Bright Moments and vice versa. And although you may or may not have heard of him by name, you more than likely have come in contact with him sonically just the same. For instance, Arcade Fire, Beirut, and yes, even LCD Soundsystem. One and all of these bands have utilized K. Pratt’s most excellent talents. He’s there adding touches of gold whilst playing flugelhorn, trumpet, as well as a host of other instrumentation. With his album Natives he’s lovingly assembled a batch of modest songs, and presents them with such tenderness and a clear nights sky worth of sparkling starlit beauty. My favorite of the bunch being the incredible gorgeous “Traveling Light.” But you really have to experience the album for yourself, so head on over to www.luakabop.com and stream the Native LP. But, the fun doesn’t stop there, you can get a FREE DOWNLOAD of the Bright Moment’s track “Tourists” (Shuttle Remix) by Nate Donmoyer of Passion Pit. Peace.
