mø // pilgrim

from the land better known for snow and stegt flæsk than for music (well, perhaps not) the artist (karen marie ørsted) is out the gates with a certified fire starter. her track, “pilgrim” is everything one could hope for in a song. it has soulful dreamy music and vocals of such tranquility you may just imagine you’re somewhere on cloud 9. this is a sound somewhere in the realm of soulful pop, but who cares about genres when the music is such an effortless like. peace. grimes // genesis (easy girl) remix

for those familiar with grimes you know just how sub-zero chill her music can be. however, when you take a track like, “genesis” and put it into the hands of dj/producer easy girl you’re in for a dark surprise. the “genesis (easy girl) remix” is a mendicant black scrim of melancholy splendidly covered by besmirched synths and “tussled with” vocals which sometimes go beautifully staccato. this one is definitely some kind of sexy. oh before i forget, it’s a free download. so get it while it lasts. peace. the babies // get lost

kevin morby, cassie ramone, justin sullivan, and brian schleyer have this little band called the babies, and while the name may sound, well…infantile their music is assuredly not. listen to their track, “get lost” and right away you get the feeling this band is about wild raucous abandon. this is party music; the bar hopping-beer-swilling-cigarette-smoke-infused kind. the song “get lost” is the 1st single release from the band’s forthcoming lp which shares the same name. also, check out the song, “miracle mile” taken from the band’s anticipated sophomore release, our house on the hill. after the jump you can check out tour dates and figure out how you can get yourself there, i promise it’ll be a good time. peace. terraplane sun // ya never know

they say, “the west coast is the best coast,” and while the jury may still be out on that one, it safe to say there are some great bands emerging from the sunshine state. and if you had your good ear to the ground this past summer you may have heard the buzz surrounding the five-piece venice beach-based band terraplane. they have a gritty bluesy-rock sound which penetrates your skull like a hollow-tip barreling out of a shot-gun fashioned by the likes of canned heat with traces of the allman brothers . musical references aside the quintet’s dave trumfio-produced (of wilco & my morning jacket fame) friends ep will drop this coming tuesday on october 16th. for now, sit back and listen to terraplanes’s 2nd single from the friends ep, “ya never know.” peace. feed me & crystal fighters // love is all i got

listening to this new song by feed me & crystal fighters, “love is all i got” has me stoked!. hearing it over and over just gives me goosebumps atop my goosebumps. simply amazing and infectious multiplied by about a trillion. the super electro/dance music guru and uber-producer feed me adds just enough “dubstep spice” to take this one completely off the rails. but you’ll have to wait, the track won’t officially drop until november 11th. but rest assured crystal fighters are hard at work putting together there yet-untitled forthcoming sophomore album to released spring of 2013. and if you reside in europa (or if you just got it like that) you can catch their london show at the koko on thursday may 23rd 2013, they’ll be playing the new album live for your utter enjoyment. peace.
