Of the nine muses of Greek mythology she is all and none of them. She comes to me bearing gifts, trailing peace like birdsong… oh Ms. Stavee how you anoint my brow with song enough to gird my days against all trouble and worry…
Surely you’ve heard Alex Clare’s radio hit Too Close, and if you haven’t it would be a damn near miraculous feat of biblical proportions. Yet, Mr. Clare’s offering Hummingbird (Cyan Frendz Remix), is at the other end of the mood spectrum. Where Too Close is all nice and tidy with its proclamation of a quick and immediate distancing of hearts, Hummingbird is reverential and introspective, and dare I say bleeding the blood of hope. This track is rife with the sacrificial soul of an angel. And for all it’s melancholy it is also imbued with a perseverance which steel my resolve to keep my chin up and my eyes, not so much on the horizon, but it washes them of cynicism and returns me to an ideal innocence, not of naïveté.per se but of a determined optimism. And for that I am thankful.
Both tracks and many more can be found on Alex Clare’s wonderful album The Lateness of the Hour, and you can get your own copy via iTunes. Peace.

Awesome, thank you. 🙂
