Major Lazer // Get Free (Ft. Amber Coffman)

Future time beatnauts Switch and Diplo conjure up another sonic pièce de résistance with their latest, “Get Free” featuring vocals and lyrics by the incomparable Amber Coffman (Dirty Projectors). Like all of their work this one is ultra bashy! Like smooth sweet cream butta’ on your very own piping hot slice of life. And don’t fret, you can cop a free download of this very track at www.majorlazergetfree.com. Peace. Continue reading “Major Lazer // Get Free (Ft. Amber Coffman)”

Jakwob // Electrcfy (Ft. Jetta) (Our Sunday Best)

Multi-instrumentalist/producer James Jacob bka Jakwob is gaining recognition in the world of music, and his is a sound we can definitely use more of. The song “Electrify” (Ft. Jetta) is indeed some kind of wonderful. This up and coming beatologist possesses a  style which transcends  any one particular genre, commingling elements of dub step, electro, R&B and break-beat into a confluence of earth-born majesty. Currently working on a debut album, and very much in demand as a producer, he’s redefining the musical landscape and making us love and anticipate everything he blesses us with, and that is why Jakwob is Our Sunday Best. Peace. Continue reading “Jakwob // Electrcfy (Ft. Jetta) (Our Sunday Best)”

xxxy // i know this (can’t be love)

One of the best kept secrets out of Manchester, U.K. is dj/producer xxxy bka Rupert Taylor. I describe his work as glassy bass, because is so clean. And with the sticky deep lows akin to stepping into a deep chasm and well-traveled frenetic beats. It all makes for a memorable (and global) experience whenever I hear his music. The latest track “I Know This (Can’t Be Love) taken for the Everything EP is all you want in a club track (it has sex appeal aplenty). I also put up additional club all-stars from xxxy, “Ordinary Things” and “You Always Start It,” both are sure to titillate your ear drums. For more, check xxxy’s Soundcloud. Enjoy. Peace. World Blanket // And Here We Are (Again Maybe)

The band is World Blanket, and although these are big city (Brooklyn, NYC) men, their music sounds like it may well have been wrought in more rural environs. Listen to, “And Here We Are (Again Maybe) and the Syd Barrett cover, “Let’s Split” and you can easily reconcile the fact that the bands geographic location is of little consequence at all. World Blanket’s latest LP album titled 2012 will drop everywhere worldwide on April 3rd. Totally good stuff. Like good sex, good liquor and good times. Peace. Ravens & Chimes // Night

I just found a total heart breaker of an album, and a clear shoe-in for one of the best albums of 2012.  You’re apt to return to this collection of songs like the migratory geese revisiting the north lands of one’s thawing heart. And if the songs, “Night” and “Carousel” aren’t evidence enough of the band’s resounding beauty and tender trap fragility, then I implore you to warm your ethereal soul over the smoldering coals of the whole album. Lead vocalist Asher Lack delivers lyrics like the steady fall of spring rain; slowly eroding your heart to pieces. And then there is the soft crooning of Rebecca Rossi providing those soft delicate undercurrents of moody poetry. This is a band whose music ebbs and flows like small gifts of illuminating moonlight, but at times the music swells into orchestral waves of shattered sunspots leaving your breath caught in a net of forlorn beauty, oh how it captivates. You can gain this bit of gold and magic at Amazon and likewise on iTunes. Peace. Continue reading “Ravens & Chimes // Night”

Joyce // Keep The Lights On

There are a great deal of musical connections when trying to decipher who Katherine Fussey is or isn’t. But most of these connections have little, if anything, to do with the music. However, in an attempt to build buzz or foster interest, the blogosphere has literally fleshed out her very literal family tree in an attempt to …. I don’t know, legitimize her. No need. All one has to do is listen to the music Katerine Fussey makes as Joyce. The single release, “Keep The Lights On,” is a club-worthy track that I’m sure will garner countless spins in as many equally countless clubs the world over. So, no need to name drop blood relations in regards to Joyce. This young songstress, well she’s more than holding her own in a quite danceable and groovy fashion. After the jump, check out the original “Keep The Lights On” track, as well as, the Clams Casino Remix and don’t forget to rest your eyes on the official video. Peace.
