hippo campus | little grace

Hippo Campus do the Vampire Weekend thing, who in turn did the west African (and Senegal, South African) thing. It’s all good though aaight!

The song Little Grace glistens like a blood diamond in a judge-me-not sun. It is good times aplenty reminiscent of future good times to come. Yet, these guys are young and as evolution goes the methodology of their music craft will be tried and fired in the multidimensional aspects of four lives lived. By nature bands are often re-birthed (literally and metaphorically as they must be) and so songs become marred by the affectations of love lost and found, not to mention the particular challenges associated with maintaining a productive and cohesive bandship. But I digress.

The Minnesotan band Hippo Campus definitely have talent enough to emote more good than bad, that’s a great thing (and perhaps the purpose of such a moniker). In a world of gray and cold the track Little Grace is as much a place as it is a song. A song as a state of mind all sun shiny and new.

Here’s hoping for a full-length release soon. Peace.
