Bridie Monds-Watson bares her all out of necessity. And as Soak her songs take on a whisper soft existence. Yet, as beautiful and delicate as these songs are they have the capacity to eviscerate the heart. Soak is also a ray of sunlight breaking through dark clouds, in that the music she pens are both a catharsis for creator and listener.

And yes, Soak is a bit of a dark cloud too. But it is her painfully stunning singing voice, ringing out with a woman-child’s tenderness with an oakish quality both strong and pure. Listen to her live acoustic session with Huw Stephens and become a believer too. Below, treat yourself to Soak’s four-song Blud EP. It dropped earlier this year (March) and serves as the entry offering for this very talented 17-year old with an eons-aged voice of such gallant aesthetics you want to shelter it like a thing of eggshell fragility and preciousness.

Each track is ghosted echo haunting the hollows of heartache with only bruises to show for surviving one more long lonely night. Soak’s Blud EP is all a buzz, and for good reason; her music is intricate intimacy, with songs coming off more like confessions rather than songs. Songs as soul shedding journal entries not meant for public perusal. Yet, here we are rapt and listening. Peace.
