ben khan | 1992 ep

There is something to be said about youthful enthusiasm, and although London-based Ben Khan has youth aplenty he also has the ability to put the music where his mouth is. With his latest, the debonair and totally sexy 1992 EP the music comes out swingin’.

Last year he offered up the twin pleasures of Savage and Eden as mere demos, but now we get to listen to the aforementioned tracks fully fleshed out and alive with the most beat-i-ful heart.

All four-tracks on the 1992 EP possess a high energy, they sway and drip with R&B licks, pulsate with bassiness and crisp synth lines. Check it out below and I betcha’ your body will respond in kind. The 1992 EP drops May 5th courtesy of Blessed Vice Records. Peace. Continue reading “ben khan | 1992 ep”

other people | just friends | don’t tell me

Saying Nicolas Jaar wears many hats is a given. It’s like saying Mr. Shakespeare was pretty adept with a quill and a ink well. But it more than evident that he consistently rises to the realm of the splendiferous in relation to stunning resonating sound waves.

Other People is the collaborative project between Nicolas Jaar and Sasha Speilberg (Cate Capshaw + Steven Speilberg = Sasha). Regardless of her parentage, she is quite the talented noisemaker.

Check out the track Don’t Tell Me and know what a earful of sonic dopeness sounds like. Look for the Don’t Tell Me 10″ to drop soon. Peace. Continue reading “other people | just friends | don’t tell me”

marvin gaye // grapevine (autrograf remix) + free download

Autograf. What am I supposed to do with this? The Marvin Gaye Grapevine (Autograf Remix) leaves me reeling. Leaves a brotha’ clicking repeat. Leaves my ears helpless and my body a tortured mess trying to dance it all out until the break of dawn. Autograf you are so wrong for this, but I am so glad you did. And its a FREE DOWNLOAD! Shut up! Peace. Continue reading “marvin gaye // grapevine (autrograf remix) + free download”

tesla boy // broken doll

This month Tesla Boy dropped their highly anticipated sophomore LP ‘The Universe Made Of Darkness’, and naturally we are both impressed and grateful. Get an earful of the single, “Broken Doll,” featuring the Red Velvet cake vocals of Tyson. This track sheds mega sparks via it’s nasty synths and sexy menacing bass line, and we can’t seem to get enough. You can get the 12-track album right now via iTunes. Peace. Moon Boots – Aretha EP

Alright, time to shed your workaday clothes, put on your party duds, and shake something. And you better believe I got the music for the occasion. Newly ordained DJ Moon Boots is serving it up hot and heavy with his latest stupefying Aretha EP, check it out. I also included the equally danceable track “Off My Mind.” We haven’t heard much from this newly sentient mixologist, but so far, so good. But best believe our antenna are now readjusted, and awaiting your next groove transmission. Peace. Continue reading “Moon Boots – Aretha EP”

the twilite tone // mean machine

What you know about Twilite Tone? If it isn’t much we’ll make allowances owing to the fact that we’re just catching on too. I’ll say this, any one who DJ’s for Common is cool with me. Those in the know, proclaim Twilite Tone is the sound of Chicago, and I’m not about to argue with such proclamations. Tone, a prolific DJ for the past 20 years, with deep roots steeped in Techo and the House sound is kicking up a whole lot of extraterrestrial dust as of late (as if he’s ever stopped) . All I know is my ears are feeling “Mean Machine,” in all its funky/bouncy/spacey oddity. His first EP Mean Machine will make your feet lust after the dance floor. Peace.
