The sophomore release from Young Man, Vol. 1, is a seemingly effortless body of work. It is beautiful and dripping with the tranquil and the utterly melodic. As the 23-year-old Brooklyn singer/guitarist/songwriter Colin Caulfield readily demonstrates his prowess with well crafted and melodic songs. Listen and watch his video for the song, “Fate” and immerse yourself ear deep within its lush beauty. Vol. 1 is an album you’ll want to listen to more and more, so why don’t you give Young Man a try. In closing, I am also recommending Colin Caulfield’s Ideas Of Distance EP. Yes, it’s only 3 songs, but they’re much more here than 3 songs. Peace.
heavenly beat // tradition
John Pena is the smooth like butta’ incarnation of Heavenly Beat and the lovely song, “Tradition,” just melts in your eardrum so sweetly. This song is all pastel and muted color galore. But, it is also effortless and packed to the brim the sensuous and chill. You may want to listen to a few of this bands other gorgeous tasting songs at iTunes. Desire. Messiah. Faithless. Suday. All of them totally bathed in chillwave aesthetics, and that’s a good thing. Also, Heavenly Beat will be dropping their debut album Talent on July 2th via Captured Tracks. Peace. exitmusic // passage
Aleksa Palladino & Devon Church the dynamic duo from Brooklyn combine forces as Exitmusic and together they make music that is as equally grandiose as it is emotive. Their track “Passage” is a juicy ethereal incandescent slice of indie pop that you’ll enjoy all summer long. This is the title track from Exitmusicâs new album, Passage out now via Secretly Canadian. Question: how does she manage to sound like she’s channeling Conner Oberst at times? Peace. Continue reading “exitmusic // passage”

World Blanket // And Here We Are (Again Maybe)
The band is World Blanket, and although these are big city (Brooklyn, NYC) men, their music sounds like it may well have been wrought in more rural environs. Listen to, “And Here We Are (Again Maybe) and the Syd Barrett cover, “Let’s Split” and you can easily reconcile the fact that the bands geographic location is of little consequence at all. World Blanket’s latest LP album titled 2012 will drop everywhere worldwide on April 3rd. Totally good stuff. Like good sex, good liquor and good times. Peace. French Horn Rebellion / / This Moment
Blood may be thicker than water, but the music that moves trumps all. French Horn Rebellion are Robert and David Perlick-Molinari, two brothers born originally hailing from the environs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Theirs is a story of rebellion cloaked heavily within the mantra “follow your dreams.” According to legend, way back in 2007, younger brother Robert, made a decision that would changed the course of both brother’s lives. He ditched the safe, or perhaps arduous path, pursuing a career playing classical French Horn or taking a chance and reaching for the brass ring. He chose the latter, and enlisted his brother into this wild eye scheme. Well, needless to say their gamble payed off., and so French Horn Rebellion was born. Check out the duo’s track “This Moment” and tell me it doesn’t move into your veins like something illicit and fill your ears with joy. Enjoy. Peace.
