large professor // keys to the city

When you surround your head space with the music of the legendary veteran producer/rapper Large Professor it’s hard not to have a good time. His music has a vibe wherein the unimportant and frivolous dissipate in the furthest recesses of your mind. Large Professor drops jewels of wisdom and profound insight like they were penny candy. Here is a man who has accomplished plenty in the Rap/Hip Hop game having worked alongside such figures as Eric B. and Rakim. And you can count such Hip Hop notables as Kool G, Kane, Slick, Busta Rhymes, and Common among his peers and proteges. And still thorough the years the man remains true to his origins. After the jump watch his “Keys To The City” video and witness classic Hip Hop at its finest. For more, check out Large Processor’s interview at HipHop DX. Peace. the twilite tone // mean machine

What you know about Twilite Tone? If it isn’t much we’ll make allowances owing to the fact that we’re just catching on too. I’ll say this, any one who DJ’s for Common is cool with me. Those in the know, proclaim Twilite Tone is the sound of Chicago, and I’m not about to argue with such proclamations. Tone, a prolific DJ for the past 20 years, with deep roots steeped in Techo and the House sound is kicking up a whole lot of extraterrestrial dust as of late (as if he’s ever stopped) . All I know is my ears are feeling “Mean Machine,” in all its funky/bouncy/spacey oddity. His first EP Mean Machine will make your feet lust after the dance floor. Peace. Common – Blue Sky/Sweet

What can be said about hip-hop impresario Common? A lot apparently, but the jist of this artist/actor/author/MC is that he keeps getting better with each release. Common is one the brotha’s out here doing it the way its supposed to be done, with enough style and poise to make anyone proud to say they’re a fan. Check out his latest releases “Blue Sky” and the rawkus “Sweet” and tell me son ain’t nice. Keep a look out for Common’s new album The Dreamer/The Believer to drop in December. Peace.
