Cherub // XOXO (don winsley remix)

Perennial funksters (not hipsters) duo Jordan Kelley and Jason Huber bka Cherub are funky! Imagine if Rick James’ sweat was crystallized into pill form, dusted with the liquored breath of the best dance music available, then served piping hot between the sweaty thighs of R&B and Soul music personified in the form of Pam Grier in her heyday. Yes, it’s an image you won’t soon forget, and like the Don Winsley remix of “XOXO” it’s a track your ears aren’t likely to soon forget either.  So go ahead, douse yourself in this vat of clarified soul essence, and they’ll be mopping up your puddled form off the dance floor as soon as the track ends. Peace. Continue reading “Cherub // XOXO (don winsley remix)”

Lone // Spirals (Ft. Anneka)

Matt Cutler, bka Lone, is a dealer of sorts, he deals in things that go bump in the night. Rightly so there exists warnings galore concerning intoxicants which can be ingested orally or through the old olfactory locale.  However, not one warning concerning the dangers of overdosing on music. We all know music can be the ultimate mood altering product, no? Especially, if you’re listening to the lush track “Spirals” by Lone featuring the THC-ridden vocals of Anneka. Soul Clap // EFUNK

According to their official biography, “Before today is yesterday and after tomorrow is the future, Elyte and Cnyce’s paths were crossed for all time when a Sun Ra light beam sent from Saturn collided with the P-Funk Mothership and sent them tumbling to earth. Now, Soul Clap time travels on a musical spaceship of dopeness.” Yes, that’s how it all went down, and aren’t we the lucky ones to now have this space-traveling and soul sound-bending duo  (Cnyce and Elyte) bka Soul Clap amongst us? And, we thank the universe for delivering Soul Clap safely unto our collective ear spaces.  I’m just thankful their EFUNK album is now living and breathing amongst us mere mortals, and just you know it’ll blow your hair back. xxxy // i know this (can’t be love)

One of the best kept secrets out of Manchester, U.K. is dj/producer xxxy bka Rupert Taylor. I describe his work as glassy bass, because is so clean. And with the sticky deep lows akin to stepping into a deep chasm and well-traveled frenetic beats. It all makes for a memorable (and global) experience whenever I hear his music. The latest track “I Know This (Can’t Be Love) taken for the Everything EP is all you want in a club track (it has sex appeal aplenty). I also put up additional club all-stars from xxxy, “Ordinary Things” and “You Always Start It,” both are sure to titillate your ear drums. For more, check xxxy’s Soundcloud. Enjoy. Peace.
