Gardens & Villa – Spacetime (Video)

Do you want something funky and whimsical in your life to turn up the corners of your mouth? I hope you’re like me, because I can always use any and every excuse to smile my most infectious smile. Santa Barbara’s futuristic hippie-ish band Gardens & Villa have what it takes to plaster a permanent grin all over your good looking mug. Their sound is a complex mix of clam bakes, wooded forest trails and interstellar space travel all wrapped up with the glowing psychedelic rainbow bow of Chris Lynch‘s voice. It’s a party for sure, albeit a laid back and dreamy soiree. I just visited their bandcamp and grabbed a bit of their magic for myself. Keepaway – Cake

The self-described Psych-Pop trio Keepaway are on the literal cusp of releasing their debut LP Black Flute via Das Racist’s Greedhead label. So, in honor of this momentous achievement let’s all play their stickily and funkily song, “Cake,” well into the night. Well, at least until those rowdy braless uddered cows come home way past curfew again. Damn cows! Peace.

13 & God – Armored Scarves / Its Own Sun

slough off your indiscriminate woes/lift your head/let it go.

Listening to 13 & God compels me to write bad haiku-like poetry, but when I listen to these guys jam I get wild flights of fancy syndrome. Hey, it is what it is. The songs“Armored Scarves” and “Its Own Sun,” are  songs which make you hug yourself and hum along. These guys have stories to tell, and although their latest release Own Your Ghost has its definite highs and lows, the two tracks below are certified helium. Peace.
