torres // honey

Her songs are understated and sexy and really that’s all I have to say.

torres // honey

Mackenzie Scott aka Torres is the consummate indie DIY-er. Yes, she’s the artist who writes the music and performs the songs, but she is also familiar with personally hand packaging individual vinyls and shipping them out to buyers. And, she’s overly familiar with stuffing download codes into the records. Such mundanus (pulling out the late Latin, watch out) tasks are par for the course when you own what you do as an independent artist. You’re the boss, the employee, and everything else in-between.

Earlier this year Torres released her self-titled debut album TORRES to high-spirited reviews and supportive accolades alike. After the jump let the track Honey cozy up to your earlobes and whisper heat like the most passionate Shakespearean evocations. Peace.

Honey (lyrics): This cannot happen again Twice in a year is too much Heavy are you on my mind Twice in a flush, it ain’t enough Honey While you were ashing in your coffee I was thinking ‘bout telling you What you’ve done to me Honey Pretending like it never happened Come over here and let me Put you back together Writing just to save my life You stretch barelegged across each line What ghost crawled inside my guitar? Don’t move, just stay right where you are I don’t need to look I’d know that voice anywhere Everything hurts but it’s fine (it’s fine) Happens all the time Oh, happens all the time Heavy are you on my mind Heavy are you on my mind Honey While you were ashing in your coffee I was thinking ‘bout telling you What you’ve done to me Honey Pretending like it never happened Come over here and let me Put you back together Maybe some other time then I’ll come back again
