Reading, UK is known for… Um well, I don’t really know what they’re known for. But, I know this, thank goodness they’ve birthed the band Tripwires. Their new song and video “Shimmer,” is fuzzed out and dour faced Indie rock. The band sounds like it was breastfed on Radiohead, Nirvana and some Silversun Pickups. The guitar on this particular track sounds reminiscent of Nirvana’s Heart Shaped Box, but no matter it still shines nonetheless. And vocalist/frontman Rhys Edwards leans into this song with a spirited melancholy, which contrasts perfectly to the swirling counterpoints of drum, bass and lead gossamer guitar. The song is taken from the bands soon to drop album Spacehopper courtesy of Frenchkiss Records. Look for the LP on June 17th (UK) June 18th (US). Peace.
