torche // reverse inverted

Who says I don’t know how to rock it out? Strap yourself in for the megalithic ride that is Torche and their latest rock stomp “Reverse Inverted” is simply awesomely breath stealing! I’ve a feeling you won’t mind at all the way their music rattles your spinal column and leaves your brain thoroughly beleaguered, yet smiling stupidly in it’s thrall.  The bands latest release, Harmonicraft, breaks new ground and is a bit of a departure from their critically acclaimed LP Meandrethal (2008). You can get the this song and the album immediately on iTunes and Amazon. Peace.  Continue reading “torche // reverse inverted”

melody’s echo chamber // crystallized

Super talented and eclectic Parisian Melody Prochet embodies a sound at once mysterious and scintillating, with an assault of muddled guitar and rough-hewn synth work. Check out Melody’s Echo Chamber and her song, “Crystallized” and take a ride through a miasma of electrified cloud cover. No details on the release of MEC‘s debut album In King’s Park (Perth), but as always I’ll keep you posted. Peace Continue reading “melody’s echo chamber // crystallized”

how to dress well // ocean floor for everything

The music project known as How to Dress Well‘s latest track is  the equivalent of another bullet in the chamber of the most capable of seducer. It opens with lush tones indicative of dreamscape rather than song. Then Tim Krell’s vocals crash every so tenderly against your ear and it’s a wrap.  “Ocean Floor For Everything” is taken from HTDW‘s forthcoming 2nd LP Total Loss, look for it this coming Autumn via Acéphale. aesop rock // zero dark thirty

unsigned hype, front line aeronauts flurry, zero dark thirty, zero friends, minotaur-fugly stepchild, evoke lunch jumped over plunging necklines, up, beside tongue-tied hungry enzymes, devolved into mothmen munching textiles, punisher, out past go-time, back 10 fried worms chubbier, brown grass both sides, canned food, manmade tools, Lanacane, band-aids, mandrake root, bindle on a broom stick, pancaked shoes and handshake-proof campaign, can’t lose, can’t gain, smoke out moles like a force of nature, pray fortune return to his favor, swiftly, maybe in the form of a nest egg, maybe in the form of a tesla death ray, or a solid gold scene with something better to celebrate than powder on your face like a flat foot on jelly day, m-m-moral compass all batshit, spinning in the shadows of immoral magnets, are we supporting the artist or enabling the addict, I mean, I guess it matters to me, I wish it mattered to you, how a thousand virtues, kick the same bucket like chinatown turtles

roving packs of elusive young, become choke-lore writers over boosted drums, in the terrifying face of a future tongue, Down from a huntable surplus to one

(check his own) Breakneck pulse over colors in a drain that emote sugar skulls in the rain, flower-eyes melting, guided by a levy made of bath tiles tilting, quarter up and headed for the kill screen, no corner cut, no build team, only a particularly menacing, angle perpendicular to everything, boys room cherry bomb, boy/goon very much runnin’ with the devil in the mellotron, hello, here’s where a tale of caution, pounds coffin nails to bootlegs of Hawkwind, saw tooth, nevermind straw to gold, spin hearts on sleeves into heads on poles, arm in the maw, fish out pith like a business card from a jar at the mall, A-alike androids dreaming of carbon applause get stuffed with cartoon cigars, cold pack, neti-pot, home to roost, around folk backed into what they most lampoon, shook to the fevered brow and broke ankles, daisy, declawed pound, no thank you, fade me, failed all basic training but I spent a couple groundhogs days with a changeling, silouhette the god last cigarette, anything less would be re-god-damn-diculous. the hunting accident // parks and trees

“Every human being, even the youngest, is already old – that is, so close to death that he or she does not, in any case, have time to efface the accidental quality of the accidents of which his or her life is composed… We human beings are always more our accidents than our choice.” – Odo Marquard “In Defense Of The Accidental”

I lifted the above quote directly from the band The Hunting Accident‘s webpage. But alas, do not mark me thief just yet, because what I do I do for good reason dear one. In the main,, the quote describes us all, but for the band to select and present it as a sort of opening statement speaks volumes to a certain philosophy or acceptance of our inability to fully control anything, let alone our own haphazard destinies.  Yet, perhaps they’re just being clever. Whichever line of reasoning you select to adhere to is quite fine and dandy with moi. Yet, the quote holds true! For here we are, through no fault of our own: you, I, and The Hunting Accident have collided accidentally and wondrously to boot. And this utterly delightful intersection has bought us the bounty of their music. The band’s Trees And Parks 10″ is scheduled to drop July 17th via The New Black label. The songs are laden with punkish ferociousness tempered with rollicking keys and bursts of roguish guitar. After the jump listen to the songs “Aubergine” and “Parks And Trees” you’ll get the feel of barely contained angst and rebellion. The music gets up in your face with its swollen eyes, rent flesh and badge of honor bruises. But these songs are also the stories of us all, the good, the bad and the right of passage ugly ones. Peace.  Continue reading “the hunting accident // parks and trees”
