intergalactic lovers // delay + video

No jokes about Belgian waffles. I promise. Intergalactic Lovers are one of those bands which can only be described as indescribable This one is hard hard to nail down. But, it’s not like they’re all over the map either. The special thing this band does, and they do it very well, is meld together a myriad of different influences and stylistically blends them into something sonically pleasing. Listen to their song, “Delay,” and here what I’m trying (poorly) to explain. The end product sounds like several sounds, as if the Psychedelic Furs, La Luz and Marissa Nadler were tossed into a cauldron and the resulting brew materialized into the Intergalactic Lovers. The debut album Greetings & Salutations is out now and it is laden with just shy of a dozen ear-friendly gems. Check it out. Peace.  Continue reading “intergalactic lovers // delay + video”

the melodic // on my way ep

The folk-rock genre keeps expanding and my ears are taking on the supple characteristics of a contortionist just to accommodate them all. Allow me introduce South London banjo-wielding and finger-pickin’ band The Melodic, and like their name indicates good sounds abound. The band releases it’s debut On My Way EP on June 25th via Anti Records.

rainy milo // deal me briefly

With barely a fistful of songs the young neophyte and Neo R&B/Pop princess Rainy Milo is fast becoming quite the prolific artist with yet another release. Check out her latest, the Deal Me Briefly track was produced by down under soul-man Chet Faker and this track sounds a lot more grown up and musically sophisticated than her previous offerings. This one twists and undulates hypnotically through your ears and goads the body to respond likewise. Additional work includes both her Limey and Black & Blonde EPs. Check ’em out. Peace. ginuwine // pony (viceroy “jet life” remix) + free download

We’re reaching back into the R&B archive with this one. Peep the ultimate summer remix as the perpetual summertime man Viceroy puts his Midas touch all over Ginuwine‘s Pony (circa 1996). As if this song wasn’t already sensual enough, now it’s just a sexual euphemism overdose. Also, let the music play with the Viceroy & Vita Coco Tapes Vol. 2, it washes over you like a welcoming cool breeze on a idyllic tropical beach. Peace. osborne // hold up (ft. joe goddard)

The English, i.e. British-accented voice dousing  the lifeblood on Ann Arbor/Detroit producer Todd Osborn’s new single Hold Up is none other than Joe Goddard of Hot Chip fame and fortune.

Hold Up is the most recent music from the Osborn camp since his 2009’s Hovercrafting EP and 2008’s self-titled debut. This one however, comes packed with a remix from Goddard that’s entitled, Joe’s Dub — it is danceable and is suitably furnished with adequate reverb and beats aplenty. Peace. shabazz palaces // an echo from the hosts that profess infinitum + official music video

Just ahead of Shabazz Palaces‘ soon to launch tour of Asia. Seattle, WA-based avant garde Hip Hop torch bearers release the video for An Echo from the Hosts that Profess Infinitum, better later than never-ish, right? The  video was directed by Joris Grelet, and features molotov cocktails and sword wielding assassins. The video comes nearly two years after the release of 2011’s Black Up from which the track is taken. The duo, Palaceer Lazaro and Tendai Maraire, are hopefully in the lab putting together new material. We can only hope. Also, after the jump check out the recent Shabazz Palaces Remix of Animal Collective‘s New Town Burnout. Peace.  Continue reading “shabazz palaces // an echo from the hosts that profess infinitum + official music video”
