Plugin Name: Distrify Embed
Plugin URI: http://support.distrify.com/customer/portal/articles/264106-how-do-i-embed-on-a-wordpress-blog-
Description: Extends WordPress's Embeds allowing bloggers to easily embed videos from Distrify. Just go to any Distrify film page or player and copy the URL. Paste that URL in any WordPress blog and it will automatically be converted to an embedded Distrify player. If you are logged in to distrify.com it will automatically add your affiliate tracking code to your embeds. Make sure you turn on Auto-embeds in your WP settings and also make sure that the URL is on its own line and not hyperlinked (clickable when viewing the post). The plugin also extracts the still image from the film and saves it as the Featured Image for the post. This actually works for any Embed (not just Distrify) that you embed into your WordPress blog.

They’re busy penning the Detroit comeback theme music as we speak. Can’t wait to hear it.
dale earnhardt jr. jr. // if you didn’t see me (then you weren’t on the dancefloor)
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. gets major props for not only making such a stylish song, but musically speaking the track If You Didn’t See (Then You Weren’t On The Dancefloor) kicks the damn door open and hacks into your circadian rhythms. So, if you’re dreaming of magic dye-dyed disco balls whilst wide awake and dancing now you know why. The Detroit-ers dropped their Patterns EP earlier this year, they’re are four tracks on the EP and IF You Didn’t See Me is the crown jewel of the lot. Peace.
When an EP spans the distance of three songs, it may just mean they’re too potent. Therefore the meager dose is all your heart can take.
bilby + cuckoos // split ep
Bilby and Cuckoos are both Australian artists and they have released an affectionate and admirable 3-track EP. According to a press release Bilby (Harry Moxham) hails from the beaches of Northern Sydney, and he makes his style of lo-fi folk-pop from the comfort and confines of his bedroom. So, maybe that’s the reason the songs he produces sound so intimate, with the frailty of weather-worn and honest confession. The artist Cuckoos aka Sam Wotherspoon makes his contribution with the track Strange Daze, it’s a slow dirge wrapped in wispy sensuousness; the foggy outskirts of a forlorn heart. This EP is a treasure. Love it, play it. Peace. Continue reading “bilby + cuckoos // split ep”
Summer Camp is back at it again and for some reason that’s so reassuring.
summer camp // fresh
Summer Camp is fresh. No, really. Fresh is the first single from the duo’s (Elizabeth Sankey and Jeremy Warmsley) forthcoming self-titled sophomore album Summer Camp courtesy of Moshi Moshi Records. I like it’s disco-y vibe and Ms. Sankey’s voice has never sounded better. Peace.
Brothers Neil and Sumul Shah know a thing or two about rockin’ it out.
wildlife control // ages places + different
Wildlife Control is a transcontinental collaboration between brothers Neil and Sumul Shah. Drawing on the creative energies of their respective cities, New York and San Francisco, the brothers blur the lines between visual art, music, and technology. Their aesthetic combines sampled and synthesized sounds plus visuals in an alchemical mixture works well, but you don’t have to take my word for it, let the music play. Peace.
Her songs are understated and sexy and really that’s all I have to say.
torres // honey
Mackenzie Scott aka Torres is the consummate indie DIY-er. Yes, she’s the artist who writes the music and performs the songs, but she is also familiar with personally hand packaging individual vinyls and shipping them out to buyers. And, she’s overly familiar with stuffing download codes into the records. Such mundanus (pulling out the late Latin, watch out) tasks are par for the course when you own what you do as an independent artist. You’re the boss, the employee, and everything else in-between. Emily Schuna is the founder of Human Nature Records based in Brooklyn, NYC. They’re smallish but good, like a shot of quality tequila and just as musically potent.
emily schuna // human nature records
Emily Schuna founded Human Nature Records and since they’re a smallish outfit (but oh so good) I thought I’d offer a bit of exposure. And, since I’m a big Justin Vernon/Bon Iver fan let’s get things started with a remix Ms. Schuna composed for the Indaba remix competition a while back. After the jump you’ll see a couple additional artists on the Human Nature roster. Hope you like ’em. Peace. Continue reading “emily schuna | human nature records”
Some of the best things in life are a mere $19.95 a month.
What do you know about vinyl? For many a vinyl record is like distilling the soul of any music down into it’s bare essence, then shooting the experience through a needle and straight into your eardrum. Well, if that description sounds over-the-top, then forgive me my gratuitous metaphors. But it also happens to be closer to the truth than say E = mc2. Continue reading “things we like: feedbands”
The NYC band Selebritites are just good to have around just in case you need something to smile about.
selebrities /// lovely things lp
Brooklyn’s Selebrities return with their anticipated second album, Lovely Things. Known for their ability to capture the sound of an optimistic and neon splashed New York, the band shows a softer, subtler side to their songwriting with the new material. Tracks like Found and Fell to Earth are pensive musings on the impact of relationships, whereas Temporary Touch and I Could Change are bouncier-style jams that Selebs’ fans adore.
The Lovely Things LP is a mature and finely-tuned affair from an act that travels confidently in their own lane. Peace.
Hockeysmith (Annie & Georgie Hockeysmith) make dreamy electro pop fare with a flare for the mundane. This is music subtle enough to chill to and just flashy enough to keep you interested. Peace. Continue reading “hockeysmith // let’s bang + now i want to”
If all music tells a story, then Royal Teeth’s joyous, inspired songs spin an exuberant tale of possibility, each note conveying the youthful excitement of venturing out into the great wide world. The songs on the band’s debut album, Glow (courtesy of Dangerbird Records), were penned around the idea of exploration and spirited adventures into the unknown, and its 12 tracks lay out a kaleidoscopic narrative of discovery.
