capitol cities // love away

Capitol Cities are channeling Sir Paul McCartney on their Love Away track and I ain’t mad at ’em one bit. It’s a great song with an equally great vibe. And the chorus, “Love, just love away, just do it every day, just do it every way.” I mean really, who can argue with that kind of logic? Not I. The song is the last song on the duo incredible In a Tidal Wave of Mystery LP which debuted recently. I’ve also included their wonderful Staying Alive Remix for all you Bee Gee fans. Bee who? I know right…lol. Also, if you head over to Google Play you can get a FREE DOWNLOAD of the track Kangaroo Court for a limited time only. Peace.

tokimonsta // half shadows ♥ ♫

Here we are, securely ensconced smack dab betwixt the what was and the what will be of 2013. And with nearly half of the year behind us there is yet still much partying to do. I can’t think of a better mixologist to helm your good time than the uniquely talented TOKiMONSTA  (Jennifer Lee). Ms. MONSTA recently released a 2nd LP titled Half Shadows ([icon name=”icon-arrow-left”] check it out) via the bonafide heavy hitta’ label Ultra.

After the jump I assembled an introduction listening party: which includes the Go With It ft. MDNR as well as the benignly sexy Moon Rise ft. Jesse Boykins III. Both tracks are taken from her most excellent Half Shadows album. And, just so your eyes won’t get jealous of your ears I’ve thrown in some visuals too. The video for The Force ft. Kool Keith is pure psychedelic Hip Hop majesty. Peace.

brave motion // hands

The four-piece band of the Summer 2013 will likely be Hands. Any band that can take the best parts of indie music scene and build such a monster sound is bound to amass a huge following. The track Brave Motion is awash with an herculean sonic force which will leave you not only breathless, but hungry for more. I haven’t heard the whole album yet, but if the songs, Brave Motion and Trouble are any indication of what’s lurking on their debut LP, Synesthesia, courtesy of Kill Rock Stars, then count me in. You can cop the new album on Bandcamp. Peace. Continue reading “brave motion // hands”

classixx // holding on + borderline + video

In regards to the band Classixx two is the lucky number.

From the Los Angeles-based duo Classixx (Michael David and Tyler Blake) check out the first tracks from their soon (May 14th, 2013) to drop debut album Hanging Gardens. Both songs, Holding On and Borderline, have a bouncy vibrancy which is well suited for the coming Spring. The songs are now available before the complete album drops via iTunes. Peace. charli xcx // you (ha ha ha) (goldroom remix)

The music is no laughing matter, so let’s just dance.

DJ/Producer Goldroom has the ability to build upon an original track in ways few others can. Here he broadens the Charli XCX track “You” (Ha Ha Ha) into something hypnotic and introspective. Thus enriching each note and lyric with the light of understanding. In the end though the greatest remedy is to get up and dance. Trust in the music and let it wash your worries all away. At least for a little while. Peace. Continue reading “charli xcx // you (ha ha ha) (goldroom remix)”

dead times // feel

Don’t let the name of this duo fool you, this one has a pulse and legs upon which to sprint full-tilt towards your ears with arms wide open.

although the name of this la-based duo maintain a slightly morbid namesake their music is anything but. to the contrary, the music here is lively has anyone could hope for with its mixing and splicing of pop bubbly and r&b rhythms (can you say genre defying?). Dead Times presents a winner with their latest track, “Feel” and ii is the first release since the duo’s self-titled 7-track album earlier this year. and like the lyric in this proclaim… “yeah my best is yet to come”. peace.
