Clipping

Los Angeles trippy-trio, The Clippings drop supernova sound debris, Splendor & Misery to the merriment (or chagrin) of space invader interloper types the galaxy over. The results are varied and unexpectedly expected depending on who-dat you ask. I happen to be an accidental fan and because my chakras are aligned sequentially with the optics of my third eye I kinda sorta knew this was the shit long before it materialized into a groovy and downright physical manifestation. Peep the vid after the jump. And as always kiddos and weirdos alike, go forth and soultiply. Peace. Continue reading “clippings | true believer | video”

cote | golden hour

Brooklyn-based COTE is a dangerously seductive chanteuse, and although the songs she delivers aren’t popular (yet) they are nonetheless endearing. Listening to her recent material I am easily reminded of Feist entwined with the mood and timbre of Hope Sandoval. Not a bad combination if you ask me. To date, COTE’s recent deliveries include the smoke infused and introspective Cruel and the dreamy ode Golden Hour . These songs remind us all that love is best served with all of life’s many surprises, and it shouldn’t be any other way. Check out both tracks after the jump. Peace. Lo Moon

lo moon | loveless

Lo Moon does wonderful things with instruments and imagination. On the track, Loveless things are kept hush hush low, bittersweet and endearingly melancholy. I checked out the band’s webpage and the only available music is what you see here. That made me a bit sad. But hopefully it also means more is on the way. Now I am happy with anticipation. edward sharpe & the magnetic zeros | home | rac remix

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros will forever and always be remembered by their much-beloved song Home featuring the vocals of Alex Ebert and Jade Castrinos. The track is the second single released from the band’s album Up From Below (2010) courtesy of Rough Trade. And if the song is good enough to make my 11-year old son’s playlist then it is certainly worthy of my Throwback Thursday pick of the week. After the jump check out the original video and the RAC Home remix. Also, if you want more of the good stuff check out the band’s latest tour de force PersonA out now via Community Music Group. Peace. Continue reading “throwback thursday: edward sharpe & the magnetic zeros | home | rac remix”

the orwells | they put a body in the bayou

The Orwells are back and channeling Nirvana in a very big way. The band’s lead single They Put A Body In The Bayou is screaming guitar ruckus fest. Play this one loud and often. This highly energetic track is taken from the band’s forthcoming Terrible Human Beings LP dropping January 17th courtesy of Atlantic Recording.

German resident Roosevelt aka Marius Lauber brings his bright pop and electronically bubbly music with the lead single Belong. The catchy track is taken from his debut self-titled LP release bearing the same name. This is music maker that hits all of the right notes and he’s no stranger to our ears. The Austin, Texas Empire Machines is a five-piece indie psych outfit and they’re gearing up for a massive summer. But for now, we’ll make do with their latest single Scenes. The band of five have been doing the rock band thing since 2011 and next year they’re dropping their debut long play. I can’t wait. And with the way this band sounds I am pretty sure they’ll catch fire. Peace. Continue reading “empire machines | scenes”

Computer Magic has had a very long relationship with my ears. And to be honest it has mostly been a one-sided relationship. Unfortunately, all my ears are interested in is hearing, in short they’re takers. Enough about my selfish ears. But definitely more about Dimensions the lead track from CM’S latest Obscure but Visible EP from Computer Magic. The track Dimensions is the very first song you’ll encounter once your press play. The Obscure but Visilbe EP is out right now courtesy of Channel 9 Records. Check after the jump for the tracklisting and music. Peace. Continue reading “computer magic | dimensions”

the smallest creature | million | reboot

the smallest creature sends their debut album million out into the world and from the sound of it everything sounds just fine. give this one a test drive and be rewarded endlessly via constant listening. this Nicosia, Cyprus band has created a sound which manages to both be refreshingly inventive and musically referential, paying homage sonically to bands akin to early radiohead, smashing pumpkins and silversun pickups, just to name a few. the band’s debut single Reboot is some kind of wonderful too. the track opens with somber guitar then ripples out spatially onto the receptive shore of your infinite heart. good stuff. after the jump stream the album in its entirety via the bandcamp player. let me know how you like this band. peace. The Los Angeles-based rock outfit Warpaint has done us good. With the release of their sixth studio album Heads Up listeners are treated to what is arguably the best Warpaint album ever. The LP opens with frenzied R&B laden Whiteout and I was floored immediately! What a groovy track, and get this, it’s just one of eleven! The whole album is packed with neato and super sexy songs.
